Has anyone stayed at the Silverado in Napa?
We're still trying to figure out our accommodatons in the Wine Country next month. Of course all the great B&Bs everyone has recommended are full! Next time we'll start our planning sooner. In the meantime, the Silverado is available. Does anyone have any information about the resort that they can share? Thanks.

Been there many times==vastly over-rated for what you pay, although the golf is great!!! Food is usually O.K.The accomodations are "past their prime" but clean. If you can't find anyplace else at this late date, it is better than staying out of town as Vallejo or Fairfield.
Good Luck..Don't overlook the Napa Valley web site..

Jayne--we stayed there about 3 years ago---stayed in a condo-type unit for 4 nights---very nice and very clean---it seems that the rate was $190 a night, which we didn't pay 'cus it was a work thing. I thought the price seemed steep, but I don't know what the going rates in Napa were at that time. Anyway, the unit was very comfortable & pretty .....emerald green carpet, large nicely decorated bedroom with a gas fireplace, kitchenette, well-lit bathroom area with lots of drawers, closet space, etc. sliding glass doors out onto a patio facing a pond and fountain. The golf was OK--guess we were expecting a lusher course. Never ate there, too many other great places in the Napa area. Overall it was a nice, clean, quiet place. Write if you need more info.

The Silverado was a country club a long time ago and still provides satisfactory lodging in the Napa Valley. I have never eaten there either, but as another person says there are so many alternative restaurants. I can't say that I ever felt that they were cool or uncaring, but they certainly aren't a fuss over you B&B either. Another place you might try is Meadowwood--big, modern condo type place with golf and swimming pools but they might still have something available. It's where we call when we're doing a spur of the moment weekend. I hope everyone will read this a realize that they have to plan ahead in these popular areas of Califonia. Good luck. P.S. Don't stay in Vallejo!!

My husband and I leave tomorrow for 2 nights at the Silverado so I'll let you know what we think.
We'll be in Monterrey until Friday, so I'll try to post Saturday, or you can e-mail me if you'd like.
P.S. The Silverado is a golf resort and county club - I expect the atmosphere to reflect that lifestyle.

Thanks for the advice. Mary, I'll look forward to hearing your comments about the Silverado. We've also heard that the Vintage Inn is nice and they have availabilities--anyone ;have any information? We wanted to stay at Cottage Grove but it's completely booked. Kam, you're absolutely right. We thought planning a trip to Napa 2 months ahead was plenty of time. Were we ever wrong. Wejust found out that friends of ours, going out in May, already have their dinner reservations. Live and learn!~
