Has anyone here used Hotwire?

I am considering getting a hotel room through Hotwire. Does anyone here have experience with it? If Hotwire tells me a hotel is Five-Star, and says Five-Star means world-class accommodations, is that true? Any tips or experience you have with Hotwire, Priceline, etc. would be appreciated!

I've used Hotwire once and Priceline twice for a hotel. I would definitely use both again and recommend the sites to friends. All my experiences were for 3 to 5 star hotels and I was pleased with every experience. The only concern I might relay to you is that the rooms we received at two of the hotels (the 3 and 4 star) seemed a bit smaller than the average room, but other than that, they were extremely comfortable and quite nice. The 5 star room in NY was a standard size. I paid $28 and $36 for the 3 and 4 star hotels and about $100 for the 5 star in NY. Be forewarned that some of the hotels will charge an additional parking fee to use their garage, which will increase the price of your total hotel cost. Also, a couple of hints, check www.biddingfortravel.com to see what hotels are generally being sold on hotwire and priceline and the prices that people have paid. That'll give you a better idea of what you should bid on priceline. Good luck!

Oh, and in response to your question, the 5 star in NY was really a 5 star world-class hotel.

If you want a hotel and airfare, Site59 (www.site59.com) is a really good place to go. You'll know all the info in advance (the exact hotel, hotel room, flight times, etc) and get a great deal. I used them several times and was really happy with them.

Have used Hotwire 3 times with much success. Twice secured a hotel room at Hilton Seattle Airport for 35/night plus tax. Very satisfactory. Secured United airticket from west to east coast for about 150 less than United, Orbitz, Travelocity, Expedia or other sites were offering for same flights. I have been happy.

HI,Just used Hotwire.com for my reservations in Washington,DC. I got the Grand Hyatt Washington for $95 a
night. I got my airline ticket on Priceline.com for $143 RT from ALbany,NY to Reagan National. Both the airline and schedule were great.
