Has anyone flown into Atlanta recently on an international flight?
I will be flying into Atlanta next week from Europe, and I'm wondering what to expect in terms of customs, immigration, other delays. (I have an American passport.)
If anyone has flown in since the heightened security took effect, I would be interested in hearing your experience.
Thanks.

oops, sorry, wrong topic!
As far as Atlanta goes, everything we're hearing is that things are back to normal at all the airports. It would be nice to try to tell you what next week is going to be like...but it's all a coin toss these days.
Had a friend who flew in from Brussels to JFK the other day, and said they'd heard NOTHING of any terror plots and seen no delays whatsoever nor any news reports. The U.S. media will continue to make "airport delays" a big story on the 11pm news for another 3 weeks however.

The immigration hall in Atlanta usually works pretty well, unless there's 3-4 big flights from Europe arriving at the same time. In any case, I've never waited more than 30 minutes to go through immigration, and this on a foreign passport. With an American passport it should be even less. Baggage claim and customs is right next to the immigration hall. If Atlanta is your final destination, you should have no issues whatsoever. If you're connecting, then you just have to put everything on the new forbidden item list in your check-in luggage.

I agree with the last person. If several flights arrive at the same time, there will be a line. Also, if you arrive before the custom officals arrive for work, you will wait.
I felt sorry for the people who did not have a U.S. passport the last time I was in Atlanta. It looked like their vacation would be over before they got through the line. But that was two years ago.
