Has anyone ever seen a Dragon Boat race?
The world Dragon Boat racing championships are being held in Philadelphia in August. Has anyone ever seen one of these races?
I'm thinking of taking my kids (11 and 13) to see them. It seems like it might be fun.
We have never even been to the Dad Vail (sp?) Regatta wich is held here every year so I admit to no experience with these boating events?
Any opinions- fun or boring?

Dragon boat races are a pretty big deal where they are popular and your kids will get a kick out of seeing the teams compete -- complete with a drummer to keep the tempo. I'd give it a thumbs up for at least part of the day and maybe more. Generally, these are pretty festive affairs with plenty of food stands, etc. There are a lot of dragon boat events in Canada and it seems to be showing up more in the U.S. Happy Trails!

The dragon boat races held Boston/Cambridge every year have several boats and are associated with a river bank/street fair each year with various Asian booths, foods, martial arts, etc. Many cities do races that way. The actual races involve very colorful boats with drumming. We took our kids at approximately the ages of yours and they enjoyed it for a few hours.
