Sadly the FCC will not allow The Saving of Private Ryan to be shown on tv this evening.. They say it's "too violent and the language"..This is the beginning of the new censorship.. Gee wonder if we should tell the brave soldiers in Iraq..

Yes, to all veterans, active service members and to all family members; gone on to the hereafter or with us today. Thank you!!!! Without you we would not have the life we have. There is no way we can ever repay the debt we owe you.

But do know you have millions thinking of you with a heart full of gratitude.

=D> =D>

Love and hugs to all of you on this very special day.

My Dad was in the air over Omaha as a Capt in the AAC and a good friend was a 1 LT in the second wave - he was the only Platoon Leader (Heavy Weapons) in that Batallion to survive.
Uncle Bill was a Marine LTC who survived all of the Pacific Campaigns only to to die of a sudden death (heart attack) in the mid 50's - he never said a single word about his experiences to any of we few.
My flag is flying and ....

Being one who has stood and waited so many times, I just have to put my two cents in. I don't want to inflame. I really do not.

But vets, except for a very few WWII vets, do not like most war movies. Period. My guy will not watch a war movie. Says they all have the "slant". Judyrem has the best idea- give to that fund and give heartily. That's how you can repay. Put your money where your thanks go.

And as far as telling our brave soldiers about censorship. My brother in Baghdad has already seen a man with no tongue and multiples with no hands- I think he knows what censorship really is. I don't think you have to clue them in about a movie (MAKE BELIEVE/PRETEND SUFFERING) making the FCC code. War does have terrible consequences, and sometimes not going to war has terrible consequences also. Thank God the founding fathers and old Abe did understand that fact.

JJ5. thanks for good words. My DH and believe strongly that we should help those families of deceased men as much as possible. Thank God Florida is giving 50,000$ woth of college scholarships to the children of our slain Americans in Iraq and Afghanistan.
