Halloween in Maui

We are visiting Oahu, Kuaui and Maui on our honeymoon. Just turns out that we will be in Maui for Halloween. I heard that a town called Lahaina has a fun halloween party/festival. Has anyone been? Is it fun for adults or just kids? We are also thinking about going to Kimo's restaurant in Lahaina. I'd love to hear some thoughts. Thanks.

Halloween in Lahaina is unreal. It's the Mardi Gras of the Pacific. Fun for all.

Late afternoon / Dusk : children's parade.

Early evening / police sweep : adult's fun.

Some of the costumes are extremely creative. Judging and awards occur officially, and in some of the restaurant/nightclubs.
We didn't see anything dangerous there except imbibed people near midnight.

Taxi, taxi, taxi. We shared a cab out with another couple. Just makes sense. The primary waterfront route (name?)is closed to vehicles / open to peds. There's no parking, and the backroads are known by your driver.

We donned costumes brought from home, and made a few quick ones the day of the party - for a couple friends we met w/o costumes.

Be in Lahaina early for Halloween. We showed up at the airport about 330pm that day in 2003, on the road by approx 4pm... arrived at condo north of Kaanapali after 7pm ! Stop and go all the way once we joined rte 30.

Thanks. I had a feeling Front St. was the name, but it was too similar to Front St. in Santa Cruz.

Kimo's in Lahaina is a great restaurant. Lots of fresh fish and yummy (and hot) carrot muffins come in the bread basket.

I haven't been to the Halloween Party but I have been on Kaanapali for Halloween. I heard from the hotel staff where I was staying that the costumes can be pretty wild.

We always go to Kimo's when we are on the islands. It's a nice casual place that we go to for lunch. We always sit in the section that is set down furthest away from the bar area. It just seems more intimate. There are about six tables down there.

Another great place which is a few doors down is Lahaina Fish Company. They have great food too.

Pacific O is wonderful for dinner. If you can get an outside table you are in for a treat. Go at sunset and you will never forget the memories. We always take the shuttle down to Lahaina. This way there is no drinking and driving.
