Half Moon Bay/Moss Beach - Seal Cove Inn
Has anyone stayed at the Seal Cove Inn in Moss Beach? What did you think? Would love some good restaurant recommendations in the area as well. Preferably someplace that not only has good food, but overlooks the ocean. And lastly, any good boat tours of the Pacific coast or Bay area around there? Which would be better?
Thanks for any thoughts/recommendations.

Miramar Beach Restaurant has the view you describe, but Pasta Moon has the food. It seems that we did not find one location that had both when we were there! We stayed at the Mill Rose Inn the first time we were there, so can't help you with the hotel part. I really don't know of boat tours in that area. This area can be quite rough. The Maverick is located here. The Maverick is the wave that surfers challenge themselves too. It would be more likely to find boat tours towards S.F.
We enjoyed the Moss Beach Distillery as a bar with a view and ghost stories. We had heard the food was not worth it so we did not try it. This is a laid back kind of place.
We also hace stayed at a small type of B&B back by the Maverick beach. If you call the Chamber of Commerce you could get the name. It overlooked the ocean and was a great retreat. We found it after all other major places were full and really enjoyed the down comforters, fireplace, and foghorn. It even had a mini kitchen. There was a great little restarant tucked back there as well. HMB is not that big. You will get to know it as you walk and drive around.

Stephanie-
My parents and my sister both stayed at Seal Cove Inn this past year. My sister loved it and recommended it to my parents. They enjoyed it as well. Nice rooms with fireplaces, nice lobby, books all over to enjoy, and wonderful innkeeper. Can't give you any more specific information since I only visited them there (I live close by), but they loved it. Ditto on Pasta Moon and Moss Beach Distillery only for drinks.

Seal Cove Inn is owned by Karen Brown who writes all the great travel books.(www.karenbrown.com) It is a wonderful B&B. Pasta Moon is probably the best in the area, but we like to go to the Moss Beach Distillery for the ocean view. Go downstairs rather than up in the restaurant and have the "carry out" meal, eating on the porch. They supply blankets when the weather is cool. Don't know of any tours in boats on the Pacific in Half Moon Bay or Moss Beach. The Bay area is quite a bit farther north----that's a San Francisco thing.
