Haleiwa/Kailua/Hau'ula where to stay in March?
Thanks to the responses to my last thread ( http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...id=1&Go=Search)
we are staying for 7 nights in Oahu in March (23-30). We will have 2 young kids (5 & 8) with us.
We have narrowed are choices for our stay to condos/houses in these area:
1. Hau'ula (Windward side)
2. Haleiwa (N. Shore)
3. Kailua (Windward side)
We are a bit apprehensive about the surf and winds in March end (23rd-30th). The properties in
Hau'ula and Haleiwa are both beach front.
Would the beaches around Haleiwa swim-able in March? Can small children snorkel around the water in North shore?
Will it be better to stay in Kailua with respect to ocean activities in March - snorkeling, swimming.
How windy is it on the windward side of Oahu compared to the North shore?
Any opinions highly appreciated.
Regards

All things considered, with young children I would stay in Kailua. The ocean conditions would probably be the best of the three locations, although you always need to be vigilant with small kids in the water.
Kailua is also the closest to Honolulu if there are activities planned in town. Finally, both Kailua and nearby Kaneohe have more shopping, restaurant and entertainment options than Hauula and Haleiwa, while still being less hectic than Honolulu. Hope you have a great vacation.
