North shore of Oahu in March

We are considering a trip to the North Shore during spring break next year (March, 2008). I am concerned about the weather and waves during what is considered the winter months. Would the waves make the beach unpleasant and/or unusable for young children? We have been there in the summer when it was calm, but am wondering about that time of year.....has anyone been there during the winter months who can advise me. Thanks!

March is still in the winter. So the surf can be quite high. It won't be as bad as December through february, but still too high for kids.

Generally the high surf comes in for a couple of days & then goes out for a couple of days. Even on the days the surf is low, it may or may not be suitable for kids.

Kuilima Cove at Turtle Bay Resort is generally OK all year (except when there is huge surf). So you would not have to go far to a decent place if the surf is too high.

Lots to do on Oahu:
