Great restuarants,activities Maui,Hana side
Aloha,
We are flying over from Oahu to Hana, Maui for the weekend mid-November and would appreciate any recommendations on good restaurants, shopping and activities. Plan on doing the Hana road and maybe Haleakalea.
Mahalo,
Tami

Hi Tami,
Hana is a small village. I stayed at a resort hotel there around 5 years ago and have to tell you that while it's a beautiful plcae, there's not a lot to do. As I recall, there was a small grocery store and a restaurant, but not much else. But it's a great place to relax and enjoy the scenery. The place we stayed at had no tv or telephones, so it was very peaceful. The drive from Hana is beautiful...make sure and get one of the audio cassettes so you know where to stop along the way. Have fun!

Yes, Tami, no one goes to Hawaii to loll on the beach in peace and serenity, you MUST go there to shop, eat at restaurants three times a day, and take guided minivan tours everywhere. Since there are no businesses in that area to gouge you, er, guide you, you should head to the most developed, touristy area you can find for the REAL Hawaii experience!
