Okay.
We all know there are fabulous restaurants in New Orleans...but.
Do any deliver?

My mom is in a nursing home (Chateau du Notre Dame) due to MS, and I thought it might be neat to get her a Christmas gift certificate for some great NO cuisine, a switch from hospital food, for a change.
Only catch though...must be delivered.

Sharon - I just bet they'd deliver for your mom. And what a great switch it would be. Why not contact a place in NO like Peristyle at 504-593-9535, or Bayona at 504-525-4455. Both are run by young, female chefs who are very hot in the business. Their food is fabulous, and I just bet they'd do their very best to accommodate you. I find that people will respond to a desire such as yours. Their restaurants are devoted to personal service, and what could be more personal than what you wish for your mom this holiday. But do let us know how it worked out. I imagine there are others who will want to follow your lead. Ciao, L

I have to second the recommendation for Bayona. I ate there and I got angry it was so damn good. Susan Spicer's stuff is very very ballsy.

Hmmm...no luck so far...
Bayona just said "no delivery".
Spoke to the manager at Perestyle who was very sweet, but basically said their food simply does not "travel well" (he's tried it!) and was sorry he couldn't help me out.
Either way, I mentioned to both that they'd come highly recommended by some folks on the Fodors forum...they seemed tickled by that...

Now I'm wondering if perhaps there is a service (something like Take Out Taxi, or the likes) that is strictly a delivery service that offers a selection of restaurants?

Hi Sharon- Don't know if this will help, but here we have a service called Take Out Taxi- They have a client list of restaurants whose menus they distribute. You just call them and they pick up the meal from as many places as you'd like- I'm sure NO must have some sort of comparable service. On the other hand, I dug out some OLD info from NO- 8 years ago- Both French Market Seafood 504-522-8911 and Central Grocery 504-523-1620 ship UPS- You could probably just ship in town. As I said, this info is old, so the #'s may not be right- Both probably have 800 #'s now. Anyway, great idea- Good Luck and Happy Holidays!!

Ooh, tough one. The thing is, people in NO don't especially like to eat at home, going out is half the point!

I think that you may have better luck with caterers than restaurants proper. I know they are not as famous, but some of them do cater home dinner parties, which is the closest thing to this I can think of. Here's a link to a NO site that lists several of them:
