Great Dinner & Dance Club in NYC?

I want to take my daughter out for her 21st birthday. Either a restaurant with Great food (she's vegetarian) and fun atmosphere. What would be a good niteclub for dancing?

Has anyone been to Ruby Foos?

Hi, My dad lives in New York and was a taxi driver for many years and is currently a limo driver I am going to New York with some friends and he gave me these recommendations for us to go to. I have never been to any of them but he mentioned they were some spots he knew to be pretty good from customers that have gone there. Hope they help you out. A Dance club is called Decades on 2nd Avenue and 61st street or a place called the China Bowl Disco on 47th and Broadway and a comedy club is Carolyns on 50th & Broadway, A Jazz place is a place called Tatoos on 50th & 3rd. Most of these places will have a cover charge anywhere from $15-$20. Hope this helps you out some.

Ruby Foo's is great, although always VERY crowded. The upper west side location is also better than the times square location. If you want to celebrate something, I suggest a trendier restaurant down in SoHo or the Village. Good locations down there are balthazaar, Canteen, and Commune. There is also a great place on the upper east side called nello. They should all have some sort of vegetarian option other than just salads. Also, go to zagats.com and look under the vegetarian heading for restaurants in New York.

As for dancing, they are all over the place. Tatou is actually now a club called 151 (address = 151 east 50th Street). That's not a bad option.

have fun!

Thanks much for all the great suggestions! Being a "jersey-girl" not NYC savvy. I'll probably pick the location I feel my daughter will be dancing more than drinking!

Ruby Foo's on the upper west side was awesome! It's a great party atmosphere for that age group. I would also recommend Park Avalon -- great food and atmosphere.
