After we've seen the Grand Canyon will the Bryce Canyon be much different?

They are as different as night is from day. Bryce is a must visit. Grand Canyon is a "huge hole" in the earth's surface. Bryce is a collection of magnificent red rock formations that you can almost reach out and touoh.

The are not the same and cannot be compared.
I fell in love with Bryce when I was 21, and the love affair 57 years later has yet to end. Bryce is and always will be to me a place of endless fascination on an intimate scale. Bryce you can get to know. You can walk among those intricate spires carved by water and wind in that delicate limestone that is gently stained by nature's paint brush.

The Grand Canyon is just that; a grand excavation in the landscape. But it is so large and so formidable to explore, that it is difficult to comprehend.

Bryce is great. If you go, make sure you have dinner at the lodge. I was pleasantly surprised by the food and service.

To echo what the other posters have said: They cannot be compared. The Grand Canyon is, well, grand. It's HUGE and difficult to take in. Bryce is much more intimate. It's also more surreal. The hoodoos are orange and yellow and white (depending on the light). [I'm a photographer, and some of my best shots - from anywhere - are from Bryce.] It is quite something. When you hike down into the Grand Canyon it's like you're in a massive, well, canyon. It's so huge it loses something in the translation. But at Bryce when you hike it, you KNOW you're IN Bryce. It's unmistakeable.

We spent three days at Bryce a couple of years ago and will return this year with friends for two days. We did a lot of wonderful hiking in Bryce, but the highlight was doing a half day trip by horses (mules) into the canyon. We saw spectacular scenery from vantage points that walkers don't get to.

My favorite is and always will be the Grand Canyon. You have to spend time at the Grand Canyon to enjoy it. One or two days doesn't make it. It is huge. It's a place where I need to sit and soak it all in for hours at a time. Sunsets, sun rises, rain, clouds, all change the colors and the feeling of the place. Loads of walks along the edge as well as into the canyon.
Bryce is the friend you immediately enjoy. I totally agree with all the above poster. The only problem I had with Bryce, was getting use to the altitude. I couldn't sleep and was not as energetic as I would have wanted to be. Now Zion, is another story.
