Grand Hyatt in San Francisco

Does anyone have an opinion on the Grand Hyatt in San Francisco? How are the rooms?
Are other hotels around union square more promising?
many thanks!

I've stayed here before and have been rather underwhelmed. The rooms aren't that great; but the location is wonderful. The staff is mediocre (except for one of the women concierges). Depends upon the price you're getting I suppose.

I agree with the above. However, I found the service to be excellent. There is a cable car line right below the hotel as well. If you like shopping, it's a great location.

Other more promising hotels in the area? There's a brand new Four Seasons which is supposed to be opening right about now, right on Market Street. The Ritz and Mandarin are great hotels. The W is about 4 blocks off Market and offers relatively good value (when not sold out for conventions across the street).

My husband and I stayed at the Grand Hyatt back in March and we had no complaints. The location was excellent - try Sears for breakfast and get the pear salad at Max's for dinner. We enjoyed our stay.

I'm certain you can find more luxurious accommodations, but unless you want to stay in a particular area, we found this to be clean, safe, and convenient. We also had no complaints about service.

Have a good time. San Francisco is a wonderful place.
