GRAND CANYON TO ROCKY MOUNTAINS

I am going from West Tn to the Grand Canyon then up
to the Rockys and back home. What do I need to see
and do on the way? I have heard about jeep tours of the Canyon, are they worth the trip/cost? Any details will be greatly appreciated-this will be my first trip to either of these places and may not get this chance again. Thanks alot for your help.

When you leave the Grand Canyon, drive through Monument Valley. Overnight in Cortez, go to Mesa Verde (get there early in the morning), overnight in Durango (eat at the microbrewery on Main St.), drive the San Juan skyway to Ouray. Stay there overnight. Take the gold mine tour and eat breakfast there in the morning. Stay in Vail or Breckenridge. Whitewater on the Arizona River or in Royal Gorge. Have fun!!

Barbara you have to ride the mules into the canyon. You will have a great time, see the beauty of the canyon, and the mules do all the work. Call NOW for a reservation they book up early. I think the reservation number is in the Fodors book.

Barbara, I do not know of any Jeep tours at the Grand Canyon...See above message, the only way in is riding a mule or walking...There is a tour company called Pink Jeep Tours that are based in Sedona (2-3 hours south) that take back country tours in the Sedona area... Maybe this is what you have heard about...You might want to see Colorado Springs, ride the cog railroad up Pike's Peak, or take the train from Durango to Ouray. Both are very crowded and need reservations...Enjoy

The Four Corners area (Colorado, Utah, Arizona & New Mexico) contains the most scenic areas in the US. How long do you have to sightsee? Moab, UT and close by Arches Nat'l Park and Dead Horse State Park are GREAT. Mesa Verde Nat'l Park is super. Lots more places. Need more info & sites to visit you can email me at [email protected]
