Grand Canyon and Kanab, Utah
Hi there!
My boyfriend and I are going to be in Las Vegas at the end of June for a conference. However the last few days(Thursday to Monday) we want to check out the Grand Canyon and Best Friends Sanctuary in Kanab, Utah. Is the north rim as great as the rest? Also, are there any suggestions as to where to stay in either the North rim or Kanab? Nothing too pricey but nothing shabby either.
Thanks, Deborah

Deborah,
The North Rim is lovely and very quiet and rustic compared to the South rim with all the tourist attractions and many accommodations. There is only 1motel and some cabins available plus camping. Otherwise you have to drive 75? miles each way to get to the rim. Stay there if possible and make reservations ASAP. have fun.

Deborah,
I'm not really answering your question, as I haven't been to the North Rim, and I haven't stayed in Kanab.
However, we drove through Kanab on our way from the South Rim to Utah, and I must recommend eating at the Junction. It's a drive-in place, where waiters come to your cars. Great fun, great bargains. My kids still talk about it--it was a big hit with our entire family.

greetings
kanab is everything you would imagine a western town to be--we loved it. don't miss the movie set (forget the name) located on the edge of town, the folks who run the place make you feel at home and you're guaranteed a good time. we stayed at the best western, fine accomodations at a reasonable price.
