Goulding Lodge/Monument Valley is Booked

Any suggestion for an alternate place to stay since Goulding is booked at the time of our trip? The View Motel appears to be one option. Has anyone stayed there?

The View is brand new and I haven't heard any feedback yet. It is a tribal enterprise and it looks like they have tried very hard to do everything right.

The View wasn't open last year when we were there in May, but it looked big and modern, and I am sure it will be great. It will certainly give you a view!
We stayed in Mexican Hat in the end. Nothing much there but motels, but the swinging steak and music was a joy.

Haven't heard of anyone staying at the View yet but the location is perfect.

If it's full then there are three modest "OK" motels in Mexican Hat, which is I think 22 miles north. And three nicer chain motels in Kayenta 24 miles south -- Hampton Inn is the newest and nicest and offered free breakfast, Wetherill Best Western was OK, Holiday Inn would be my third choice in Kayenta.

Yes, The View would be our first choice. It was under construction last May when we were at Monument Valley. It looks like every room has a killer view.

We stayed at the San Juan Inn in Medicine Hat and enjoyed it. It's right on the river, not on the highway.
