I know it's not likely But are there any nice restaurants in the strip hotels that a couple can visit and not spend over $100-$150/couple? We'd like to have a nice non buffet dinner at least one night, but I realize we won't be able to do the 5 star bunch. Any cheaper gems (if location helps, we'll be staying at the Aladdin)? (or maybe some of the nice ones that would be cheaper for us if we stick to entree, iced tea, and shared dessert?) I am going into it assuming it's not possible, but thought I'd check Thanks!

Without wine, you'll have to work at SPENDING $150/couple on the strip.
Most of the top restaurants have $35-40 entrees. Throw in salad, dessert for $10 each for the two of you and that's still $120 tops. Tip brings you to $150.

That's not to say you can't find a few restaurants above your limit. Picasso at Bellagio had a prix fixe menu last I was there for around $80/pp, and that's pretty close to tops in LV.

But if you want memorable meals at some of LV's best, you'll do fine in the $100-150 range.

Actually, $150 will get you some good meals in Vegas. Mon Ami Gabi at Paris, if it's cool enough to sit outside has a great view of the Bellagio fountains, Pinot Brasserie at Venetian also has good bistro fare, you can do Rumjungle at Mandalay if you're into the Brazilian rodizio thing, Palm Steakhouse at Caesars, noodle shop at Mandalay, Cheesecake Factory at the Forum Shops, I'm sure there are many more...In general, I think you might be overestimating the cost of good restaurants in Vegas, also post on chowhound.com as they are very good with quality dining off the beaten path.

Thank you so much! Husband adores wine, but given the huge restaurant mark ups, he typically sticks to enjoying his own collection at home. And I am not much of a drinker, so am somewhat naive. I didn't take into consideration that the trip reports quoting $200-$300/dinners might be due to drinks.

As for cuisine, we're fairly open. Being on vacation, we're probably shooting for trying cuisine that's eclectic, interesting. For example, living in Austin, we're not terribly interested in going somewhere else and eating Mexican food Love fusion, my favorite restaurants are those where I can find influences from all over the world, if that helps at all? (And of course, tips on what restaurants have desserts that are eye popping help

One of my favorite parts of vacation is trying the new restaurants. Relieved to see my reluctance to break the bank on one dinner won't keep me from enjoying the cuisine after all! Thanks again!

Entrees at Cheesecake run $9-16 so it won't break the bank.

For $150 you can eat at some genuinely nice restaurants on the strip.

Bellagio and Mandalay Bay have the best assortments of good restaurants of all the hotels in Las Vegas.
MB's best is Aureole, and you can eat there for very close to $150.
At Bellagio you can eat lakeside at Le Cirque, Circo, Jasmine, Olives and Shintaro and stay within your range (though pushing the limit at Le Cirque. Circo is the cousin of Le Cirque and is very good at much lower prices).
Numerous outstanding steakhouses to choose from in the under $150 range. In fact only one I can think of might top $150 for two sans wine.

It's well off the Strip, but the Tillerman is very good, and is in the price range. For a mush different atmosphere and lower price, try Battista's Hole in the Wall, behind the Babrary Coast I think. Very Italian in a Las Vegas sense.

Being from Texas, you may not want to do steak, but Smith & Wollensky's (not in a hotel--free standing restaurant close to MGM Grand) is a GREAT steakhouse. It will be close to your price limit, but has a nice ambiance and terrific steaks and sides. I also enjoyed the restaurant in the Bellagio near the fountains with red decor--can't remember the name, but had some great risotto there.

Try Kiefer's Atop the Carriage House. It's walking distance from the Aladdin, just ask directions at the Bell Desk. Until a couple of years ago, when fine restaurants started popping up all over town, Kiefer's was consistently in the "Best of Vegas" polls and also "Most Romantic". Continental cuisine, nice view, candlelight, pianist on weekend evenings. It's kind of a "best kept secret" place.

P.S. The Sunday Brunch at the Aladdin ($16.99) is excellent.

I believe Kiefer's closed last year. Too bad...

Caesars Palace has a great Champagne brunch for about $50 pp.

We were in Las Vegas last week and had a terrific Italian dinner at Caneletto at the Venetian - sat inside...under $100.00 with wine. Had lunch at Mon Ami Gabi at the Paris - terrific and it looked like it would be very nice for dinner. One night we took a cab ride and went to Roy's of Hawaii on Flamingo Road - delecious if you like Asian Fusian - and within your price range. Also, we have had dinner at Olives at the Bellagio several times which is within your range. Difficult decision with so many wonderful restaurants to choose from!

If you like steak, The Palm in Caesar's Palace is wonderful. It's not really a romantic spot, but the steak is fantastic, as are the martinis. The wine sommelier was excellent, too. And the stroll around The Palace was just what we needed after gorging ourselves!

P.F. Chang's (inside Aladdin), the best ever food by far-----we rave on this to everyone!

Had a great, reasonably priced dinner at Shanghai Lily's in Mandalay Bay. Unfussy, delicious Chinese cuisine, great service, and I seem to recall that the desserts were fine as well.

clairelong, I like PF Chang's a lot, but it IS a nationwide chain resto. I would concentrate on the places unique to LV first. PFC is a place I have in my back pocket when I want something reliable, cheap and familiar in LV.

Had a bad experience at Smith and Wollensky's. Sorry travelisfun. Maybe it was a one time thing but I wouldn't reccomend.
Believe it or not the steak house at Circus Circus is great. Do a search on this site.

Thanks everyone! We opted on Olives at 8 pm. I've read mixed reviews...people either seem to have had an amazing experience or a rotten one. I decided for the view of the fountains at night, it was just worth the risk I know many of BEllagio's other restaurants have the same view, but they were pricier and dressier. Husband will appreciate getting away with Dockers and a nice shirt (please let me know if that doesn't fly for a Saturday evening at Olives). Thanks for all the help!

Ate at Olives at the Bellagio a few weeks ago, best food we had in the city. Wonderful view of the fountains and great food. Enjoy!

Olives on a Saturday night will be noisy and crowded and fun. The food is great. There will be people there dressed up and some more casually than your husband, so don't give it another thought
