Good bkfst, Las Vegas strip?

Arriving early a.m., figure it may be a few hours til we can check in. Staying at Venetian. Any nearby good sit down breakfasts (either in that or neaby hotel/restaurant)?
Thanks!!

Don't laugh. But while in Vegas we tend to eat at really nice places for lunch and for dinner. We were staying at the Aladdin and walked through the Desert Shops there one morning looking for sit down breakfast. We saw "Cheeseburger in Paradise" and went in as it was quite busy and looked fun. They had a nice breakfast menu, but guess what we ordered for breakfast-- Cheeseburgers. Well, why not? No worse than sausage or bacon and actually healthier I suppose than French toast or pancakes laden with butter and syrup. It was one of the best breakfasts we had on the trip!

The Peppermill, next to the Riviera. True "old Vegas" feel, huge portions, great coffee and great food. Open 24 hours. It's the first place we stop when we get into town (arriving late at night).

The Barbarey Coast (next to the Flamingo) is excellent.

Thanks for all your responses!!
I also just read about one at the Venetian, called the Grand Lux; has anyone eaten there?
Will try all three of above recommenations, as I'll be there three mornings. Patrick, I love the Cheeseburger in Paradise in Maui! One recently opened at Waikiki. Wondered about the one in LV. Now, with your rcommendation, definitely will go--either for lunch, dinner...or breakfast!!

My favorite place to eat in LV is the Grand Lux. We love it, and we've been to LV twice in the past 5 years, staying at the Venetian both times. The Grand Lux is owned by the same people as the Cheesecake Factory. The menu is diverse, the portions are huge, the food is great, and the prices are fair (as compared to some of the other restaurants in casinos). Plus, the desserts are wonderful.

I can't attest to breakfast (I usually don't wake early enough to eat breakfast on vacation), but it is a good restaurant with a lot of variety. You don't need reservations, but if you eat at a peak time, you may have to wait in a line.

Have fun!

I think I made a mistake, I think the place is calle "Cheeseburger at the Oasis". Anyway, it's the only "cheeseburger" place in the desert shops at Aladdin.

Grand Luxe has GREAT breakfasts! Don't order too much...at this place "sharing" is the norm!

Yummmy...mouth's watering. You all got me excited about being in LV for breakfasts, even more than the buffets! For me, there'something about that first meal of the day when on vacation, since I never have breakfast normally. Glad to read there's a reasonably priced place with big portions, right at hotel where we'll be. Thanks for sharing. Bon appetit!

Try Bouchon in the Venetian for breakfast. It was amazing. My husband had the homemade corned beef hash, and I had the croque madame. It was one of the top two meals I had in Vegas. The menu can be found here:

ps. my husband had breakfast at the Grand Luxe, he didn't care for it. Particularly when compared to Bouchon.

"The menu is diverse, the portions are huge, the food is great, and the prices are fair"

It is so sad that huge portions is considered a good, rather than a bad, thing. This says a lot.

I personally detest restaurants where they bring huge portions. I'd rather have a small portion of something wonderful or have them bring me a reasonable portion and then lower the price.

I second Peppermills. Their skillet plates are wonderful. Also try their fireside lounge during the evening. Nice atmosphere.

The Grad Lux is a nice option at any hour. The food is very diverse and reasonable. Don't laugh but while staying at the Venitioan this summer woke up at the crack of noon and walked next door to a Denny's. It was packed! You know what you are going to get and it is just a few feet away. Enjoy!

Whatever. My attestation to the portion size was just part of my description of the restaurant - not that huge portion size, in and of itself, = good. (And the converse is ridiculous "Oh, girl, that new restaurant's meals are so small - it's just fabulous!") But if the portions are large, I feel that info should be included in the description of the restaurant. If you've ever eaten at a Cheesecake Factory, could you honestly not use a size adjective if you had to describe the meal in 5-10 words? Some people (a) want a large portion size (like my slender husband), or (b) would want to know that the entree will be large, so don't bother ordering anything else, or perhaps, share an entree. I am not one to order an appetizer or side salad or soup, and usually not a dessert, but many other people do - and so huge entree portion sizes would mean there would be a huge amount of food left over. Heck, every time I have eaten at Grand Luxe, I have taken my leftovers back up to my Venetian suite for a snack or another meal.
My hearty recommendation for Grand Luxe still stands (monstrous portion sizes and all), but, for breakfast, I still might choose Denny's (and yes, they have large portions, too).

Another vote for the Grand Luxe at the Venetian. It's my favorite casual restaurant on the strip. I've never been disappointed for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Neither have any of my dining companions.

Try the baja omelette - my favorite. The coffee is delicious too.

Thanks again to everyone who's written with suggestions. Much appreciated! Not being a "morning person" usually, I honestly had no idea there were so many options for breakfast in LV. Yippee! We can start our culinary adventures early in the day!!
KGH8M, you're right..."whatEVER!!!" is the proper response. I'd rather know in advance about how much food to expect. Heck, this is LAS VEGAS we're talking about!!! Buffet city?? Lots of food???
Seems that no matter what helpful response or question one posts on this (or any?) forum, someone just can't resist giving lecture about it! I recently posted a fun (I thought) little thread ("Regret-filled Recomendations") and got an inevitable pop-psych lecture, mixed in with the many interestingand enjoyable-to-read replies.

First time I visited the Cheesecake Factory my eyes widened at the sight of all the desserts. I'm glad someone had told me about the large portions, we ordered just one appetizer and one entree for the two of us so that we could save room for D E S S E R T !

My favorite breakfast spot on the Strip is the cafe inside of Paris - where else can you substitute a fresh CHOCOLATE croissant for toast with a great omelette? Yummy! ANd good service too.
