Golden Nuggett

Thinking of staying here in Nov. We always stay on the strip but might try downtown this time. We will only have a couple of days(my birthday). The pkg. mentions room. Any info greatly appreciated.

Do you like the downtown area and how much time have you spent there on your prior trips? If you spend a lot of time in this area then by all means stay at Golden Nugget. If you don't frequent this area much I wouldn't stay here. Have a great trip.

Sounds like you have been to Vegas a number of times. What the heck, give it a try!

I've actually only been to Vegas once so I won't be a lot of help, but I went downtown one night and was very impressed. We ate at the Golden Nugget one night and the food was delicious. I actually thought about staying there next time myself. And you can always get to the strip pretty easily if you want.

I agree with cherylforeurope, that if you plan to spend time on the strip, then don't do it!

You've obviously been to LV before, but it is such a long HAUL up to the mid-strip area from downtown, and the cabs are outrageous.

However, if you're spending your time downtown, this is the ONLY downtown hotel I'd consider.

This is my all-time number 1 place to stay! The best staff in Vegas, will look after every need and make you feel like a king. They are not much on free upgrades but thier rooms, from the cheapist to the suites, are all top of the line. Truely the last "old" vegas place to stay. Frank would approve! I refuse to stay on the strip any more since I found the "GN", they really make you feel welcome and you don't mind spending your hard earned money at a place that still believes in CUSTOMER SERVICE, and that the CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT!

We stayed there last Feb, in lieu of another strip hotel and loved it. The restuarants, gaming and rooms were very nice. With that said, the surrounding area sucked. It was a great deal and we didn't regret it, but we had a car too, so we could escape easily to the strip and for day trips outside the city.

But then again it all depends on the rate you get. We got a VERY nice room for $69/night. You are talking a 4 diamond hotel. So if you get a good price, you can rent a car and go to the strip, where self park was free at all the hotels. We couldn't beat the savings.
