Just caught the latest episode of GlobeTrekker (my all-time favorite TV show), and Ian Wright should be given a Purple Heart for bravery. The guy just keeps outdoing himself on this program.

Cuba and Haiti were amazing enough. But Mongolia? I've never seen anything like that before. Absolutely incredible. If you ever feel like you're taking your lifestyle for granted, this is a must-see episode.

I loved to watch Ian (and Janine) on Lonely Planet...never heard of Globe Trekker--please tell me more including channel / station. Thank you!

Surprized by the episode where the trekker host (Nikki) contracts malaria in Africa.

I believe GlobeTrekker is Lonely Planet - they changed the name to GlobeTrekker. It is usually on PBS stations. Check your local PBS statin listing to see if they show it.

I think KQED if you have it in your area shows Globe Trekker, I love their programs. The one about Mongolia was a lot of fun, not just educational.

Well, I'm not sure I'd call Ian's adventure in Mongolia "fun". I was astonished at the lack of any kind of infrastructure there.. Virtually no roads, no signs, no addresses anywhere, broken down cars, busses, trains, just absolute desolation with occasional spots of utter urban blight.

The demise of the USSR was a great thing in most people's view, including my own, but it did have devastating consequences in many former Soviet block countries. My heart really goes out to those people.

My fave is Zay Harding. Just to watch him, yum!

Zay's great, but Ian is still my fave. I mean, the guy is so utterly guileless and accessible, no matter where he goes the locals take him in like one of their own. It's really enjoyable to watch.

Did you see his Ethiopia episode? In one segment he went to meet a *very* primitive tribe (called the Mursi, who are known headhunters), and within 10 minutes they were playing stickball and hackey sack together! Amazing stuff.

I use to just love Justine on the show. She was so sexy! Though recently I saw a new show she had done and surprise- surprise, she was fat and about 50 years old! Looked like someone working at a library. I could hardly believe it was the same Justine Shapiro I had dreams about!

Caught part of a series on Travel Channel last night entitled Ian Wright's Amazing Adventures.

Somewhat reminiscent of "Wild Kingdom" antics, the episode began with the underwater hand search of a wetland area for an anaconda. However I suspect like most normal human beings, not exactly a heart, on Ian's role~gt; in the search .

I saw that too, John. Good show, but outside of the anaconda search, Ian just covered other people's adventures. I much prefer him in Globe Trekker, where *he's* the one doing the adventures.
