Global Entry Application Process

Can anyone tell me how long the application process takes once you have completed your Global Entry application? I filed it almost a month ago and have not received an email from them. There is absolutely no reason why I should have any problems at all.

Not sure why you posted this on the Europe forum since GE is an American program.

But you can track your application on their website.

I presume they posted it here becaue if you never went abroad, you wouldn't need it and folks going to/from Europe would be a likely audience. I think the US forum is inappropriate and the others aren't read much (ie, air travel or tips).

I got mine a couple years ago and I think it took about two months to get the notice that I could make an appt. You certainly should not be concerned if it's only been a month.

Our total time from application to card in hand was less than a month. Looks like there’s a lot of variability.

I think you should receive a notice of conditional approval and info on how to make an appointment any day now. Depending on where you live, the availability of appointments may vary.

We we had a trip to Thailand come up before we could get an appointment, and when we were a few days away from our re-entry to the US, I got an email saying we could just have our interview as we were coming back in. They do keep track of your travel. We did that, and received the approval and our cards within a week.

THank you, does anyone know if there is a way to check your status. I just thought a month was a really long time. I'm in Texas but no clue how busy they are. I did note on my application my trip is not for another 3 months.

You can check the status of your GE application online. Go here for details: https://help.cbp.gov/app/answers/det...XzJFdlBIV24%3D

I'm in the Philly area and I applied in late June.I just looked back at my emails. I applied June 23, heard back on June 27 to make appt. The earliest appt was about 3 weeks out. I had final approval within 12 hours of appointment. Card which you don't need unless crossing from Canada/Mexico by land was mailed soon after.

Have you been charged the fee yet? If not, maybe something happened with your app. You can check status at https://ttp.cbp.dhs.gov

Depending on where you live, the longest part of the process is to get an appointment. I think I got notice to schedule an appointment in about a month. But when I looked at appointment time slot in my city, it was ... 8 months away! But I noticed there was an availability at an airport out of state I was traveling anyway, so that is what I did instead of waiting 8 months.

After you get your conditional approval, you can now interview on arrival at select airports if you're returning to the country sooner than you can get an appointment https://www.cbp.gov/travel/trusted-t...llment-arrival

There are always appointments that open up for various reasons. When I was OKed to make an appointment, the first available was after my next trip. I checked back a number of times and I think it was the 3rd try that resulted in a day/time that was convenient and before my trip.

DH and I are in this process now. We received the conditional approval email in just over a week after we each did the application. We did ours about a week apart. This has all been within the last few weeks. We each scheduled our interviews for less than month out. This is in Seattle, FWIW.

Getting the interview is the big problem. Some of the interview sites are booked out for several weeks. That will be the biggest time delay.

There are constant cancellations. When I tried initially to set up my interview, I had to choose a time 2 months out. In the end, I had my Global Entry card within 5 weeks of the initial application. I saw a cancellation in Manhattan for two days hence, went for my interview and fingerprints, walked out with my conditional approval. Had my card two weeks later (and used my pre-check two days after my interview).

Just a question for everyone regarding trying to schedule for a slot that somebody else cancelled. When I went to schedule my interview, the closest appointment is 8+weeks out. I took it. I keep checking back every day and the available times just keep moving out--now 12 weeks. I am assuming that if there is a cancellation, that slot would show up in the normal calendar that shows available days. Or do you have to look at another calendar?

I don't know the answer to your question - my comment is for those who say don't worry, there are always cancellations. Not necessarily. A lot depends on where one is based. In the metropolitan NY AREA or in SoCal or Chicago or . . . there are several locations so getting in either with a regular appt or via cancelation is pretty likely. But in many areas of the US there might be one location for vast geographical regions/population. I live in Northern California and the only way I could get a slot in less than four months was to schedule a mileage run to LAX flying down in the AM and home after lunch. I was able to get an appt in 2 weeks. (and the extra miles got me over the AA Platinum threshold so all was good )

Yes, almost every time I checked there, there was a different "next available" on the regular calendar.

This was at PHL a couple of years ago.

Well, we are now driving 6 hours down to Las Vegas for a long weekend (kids have off that Friday) so we can get an interview before we leave. From what I have read, getting the clearance after that is easy.

One more question--what do you get when you get approved? e.g. how do you show the line agent you are a Trusted Traveler/have Global Entry?

I've never had to show it, but others have reported needing to show the card you will receive at your interview.
