Glacier Natl Park

Planning Pacific NW trip for September-- has anyone taken the 'treetops' tour in GNP? Saw it this past year on travel show but cant find anything printed (yet) about this most interesting and fun tour. You walk across (tethered) the treetops on rope/wood bridges. Also, is the Amtrak out of Whitefish ever on time? We are planning on a Friday night 9:30 train to Portland. Thanks everyone!

I believe you are mistaken about the treetop tour. I live 30 miles from the Park and volunteer there and have never heard of a treetop tour.
There is one in the summer on Big Mountain in Whitefish which is close to the park. Perhaps this is the one you mean.

Amtrak is hit and miss. Seldom early but many times late. I've seen it from 5 minutes late to up to 3 hours late.

I don't remember seeing anything about a treetop rope tour in GNP. I did see something on the travel channel that was treehouses, but it was in Oregon. There have been several segments about ziplines on TV, several of those have suspended tree canopy bridges, ropes, etc. We did a zipline course in Colorado that was really aweseome.

You can get on the concessionaire page of GNP on the government website for a complete list of authorized concessionaires.

I bet this is what you saw. They are adding a zipline for next year. Sounds pretty cool to me.

We did the treetop tour at Big Mnt. It was OK, but I wouldn't do it again - it would have been a lot of fun if it had some ziplines to it.
