gettransfer

Does anyone know or used this company for transport? I want transport from Omaha airport to Red Cloud, Nebraska. The website quotes me a price from $183. I prefer not to drive the three plus hours and rent a car. Thank you.

I don't know them -- but $183 for that distance (it is more than 200 miles) seems very reasonable - out here in CA it would be $100+ more.

Uber is currently quoting $244 for that same ride.
$183 seems like a good deal for 200 mile ride.

the cautionary word is from . I guess Im more concerned about the reliability of the company Gettranser than the price. I have had no experience with them. I am hoping someone here has.

I don't think it's a company like you are thinking. It looks just like a website that manages transactions for independent drivers. It's international, they sure don't have a fleet of drivers in Omaha. So in a sense, I think it's just similar to Uber or any of those website where individuals can bid on a job. Only they are calling it transfers versus taxi or whatever Uber is calling itself nowadays.

I guess any time you use a driver, they are a total stranger, anyway, I don't think you have much to lose if you have a plan B for backup in case of problems, no shows or whatever. It isn't clear if driving is a real problem for you or you'd just rather not. If the latter, that could be tour backup, to rent a car and drive yourself. If you will use Uber, seems about the same to me. I don't use Uber but have been told Uber's quotes don't mean much as they have no idea if any Uber driver will accept that trip. I've also been told you can't even reserve an Uber, reservations don't mean anything but that is the time Uber puts out the request, that they never guarantee you someone will actually want your offer. As I said, I don't know if that's true or not but I would think using Uber might not be a guaranteed backup, either.

You want to go "TO" Red Cloud. Are you ever coming home? If you can fly from a city that flies to Grand Island (limited flights), then you could reduce your cost and shorten the drive. Do you have a friend or relative that also wants to go to Red Cloud that is willing to drive?

Thank you, Cristina and Tom for your thoughtful replies. I imagine I might be able to get a driver from Omaha to Red Cloud, but thinking about what Christina said, it may be next to impossible to get a driver for the return trip. A friend suggested I take the train from Omaha to Hastings, but since my plane arrives way after the train leaves that won't work..I would then rent a car from Hastings to Red Cloud. I considered staying overnight in Omaha to catch the train the next day but the return train from Hastings to Omaha is around1 am or so. Not doable. My best option in spite of my reluctance is to rent a car; My friend assures me the roads are practically empty and it is easy driving. I just dislike driving, but Im thinking urban freeways not rural countryside.Anyway, thank you all for your advice.
