Getting from Baltimore airport to Washington Hilton and Towers.
My wife and I are taking our first trip to Washington Dc arriving on Tuesday, Oct 7 at the airport in Baltimore. After being warned against driving in Washington, we have decided not to rent a car until we are ready to leave Washington. Please give directions that a Texan can understand on the easiest and /or cheaper way to get from the airport to our hotel(Washingon Hilton and Towers). Any restraunt ideas around the hotel?
Thanks in advance yall.

We made this same trip 2 years ago and used the super shuttle from BWI to the Hilton. I think the price was about $30 for the first person and $20 for the second. I think parking at the Hilton was $15 or $20 a day then, so having a car there is quite expensive. You are in a great area of town. The subway station isn't far - it's the only way to get around town. We ate at several very good restaurants in the Dupont neighborhod, but I can't remember specific names.

There are several options described here: http://www.bwiairport.com/
The Super Shuttle sounds easy, see

For cheap, you have the Metrobus to the Washington Metro subway system. This bus:

Then take the metro to the station near your hotel. Info here: http://www.wmata.com/metrorail/riding_metrorail.cfm
I suppose that you can figure out which Metro station to use by getting info here:

I took the "Metro/Amtrak shuttle"from the airport to the Metro/ Amtrak staion to Union Stration in DC and then cab to hotel..Luggage can be a hassle so I would do the "super shuttle"
The Metro system in DC VERY easy to get around on. You DO NOT want a car in DC !!!!
Good Luck

I've taken the B30 Metrobus/GreenlineMetro that "mrwunrfl" writes of, and been very satisfied with it on weekends. On weekdays, I'm more likely to take the free shuttle from BWI airport to BWI railstation, then take a MARC (not Amtrak!) train to Union Station in DC. Takes about half the time as the bus/metrorail connection does, and costs about $5 per person. HINT: purchase "round trip" tickets for one, and save, as you are really purchasing two tickets for either direction ... save a buck. Look at http://www.mtamaryland.com/schedules...c_schedule.cfm for the PENN LINE schedules.
For how to use the Metro to get around DC, check http://rideguide.wmata.com - it gives times, directions (even the walking part) and costs for point-to-point travel.

Just take a taxi - simplest way. It will be about $45 for the two of you.
For restaurant ideas, take a look these areas on the attached map (your hotel is a red star): 1) 18th street between Florida ave and Columbia Rd; 2) 17th street between P st and T st; 3) Connecticut Ave between your hotel and Dupont circle; 19th street just north of the circle. Just walk these four areas (all are an easy walk from your hotel). You'll see hundreds of the best (but not expensive) restaurants in the city.
