I'm asking this out of ignorance (disclaimer) so please bear with me.
Obviously The Producers is a huge hit at present. Like many, we'd like to arrange a trip to NYC to see it. Cost is not a limiting factor.
What's the best way to go about getting good tickets to a really hot show? Anyone know price range?

If price is not an object, as I drew from the post, and you dearly want seats, you're probably best goin through a ticket broker (use the classifieds for telephone numbers - they always have 800 numbers so you won't have to pay for the call).

For decent tickets to a baseball game I usually have to pay about twice the face value. For very good tickets, even more.

I don't know about "The Producers." It's such a blockbuster hit, you'll probably pay plenty.

One funny thing I've noticed about theatre (and sporting events) is that there are always people showing up with extra tickets they are glad to get rid of at face value or even less. They usually stand near the box office (whatever distance the law will allow in various cities), and hold tickets in the air to let you know they're available. I WOULD NOT count on this for "The Producers!"

The good seats for The Producers go for $99 each at the box office. I would count on paying a scalper or ticket broker $200 per ticket. If you are staying at one of the more exclusive hotels, they might have a theater desk which might be able to arrange seats for you.

We leave for NYC in morning--wife and I on a long planned trip--My neighbor (thru his job connections) secured and gave us 2 for Thursday night "Producers" on row one orchestra--wonder what those are worth? We are thrilled...

I also bought tickets for "Proof" Sunday---which seems to be a nice choice--

you are SO lucky! We saw it last week from 2nd row balcony, and it was great from there. I just listened to the soundtrack this morning on the way in and was remembering how great the show is.

Proof is supposed to be great as well. You'll have a memorable trip!

I bought front row center mezzanine tickets for The Producers last Saturday morning (for a trip to NY in December) on telecharge.com.

Needless to say, I was delighted.

My friend and I just purchased tickets on line for the beginning of May. Seats may not be the best, but were only 40.00 each and a few dollars shipping/handling.

You didn't say when you wanted to go. If you can wait a few months, then call Telecharge now and find out when good seats will be available in the future. Tickets are $99 plus $1 theater restoration charge plus an additional $5.75 if you get the tickets thru Telecharge.

I got tickets to The Producers last week via www.telecharge.com and paid $90 each, plus the usual other stuff. They are for September 28.

Audrey, that was LAST week. Since then, they've sold $5.5 million in tickets and raise the top price to $99!

I went online late last night and got 4 tickets to see "The Producers" (Orchestra, left, row 14) December 26. The price is creeping up to $99 per ticket (plus service charges).
Our friends don't have a home PC and after hearing our 'raves' after seeing the play they had to see it to. If you have some flexibility, it is possible to get good seats without paying a ticket broker.
