George, I just checked out your photos from the Keys, and I want to thank you! I've been trying to read as much as possible about the area to prepare for a June trip. I'd never read anything about the Rain Barrel, but now will definetely stop. Great pictures! Rose

Have been remiss in posting this year's Keys trip report.
Until I do, the pictures are at http://photos.yahoo.com/scullyyank . For this year, go to the 2002 Keys... album. There are also several sub-albums. If you look at them as slideshows, suggest setting the speed at slow. Then you can read and assimilate better.
Anyhow, Rose, glad you enjoyed. The Rain Barrel is, indeed, not to be missed.

Fran: Just checked the URL. Seems OK to me, but my PC is configured for it. Double-check spelling; scullyyank has two Ys in it.
If you (or anyone else) is still having problems, email me.
Rain Barrel is a great crafts co-op down around Islamorada. I've got more pix of it (and a lot more) in my (full) 2001 Keys album. However, it's 42M worth of pix, and I don't know of a suitable (easy-access-use,) on-line photo host.

I tried this address also, and it will not work for me either. It brings me to a search page for yahoo. When I tried to search for 2002 keys album,it brought to many different sites but none with pictures of the florida keys. Darn! I would really like to see the pictures.

George, loved the pictures! Where did you stay in Key Largo? We are going to the Keys in July and staying at Lime Tree Bay on Long Key and then a couple nights in Key West at a B&B called Alexander Palm Court. Looking to stay one night in Key Largo either on the way down or back out of the Keys. Any suggestions for a reasonably priced place for one night? Bay Harbor Lodge looks kind of nice.

As indicated, we stayed at Neptune's Hideaway. Nice. And cheap.
Not familiar with Bay Harbor Lodge. Haven't stayed there in years, but the Holiday Inn in downtown Key Largo (wuch as it is) is/was rather nice. They also have the actual African Queen there, as well as the once-nifty Chris-Craft from "On Golden Pond."
Worth taking a look, even if you don't stay. I don't know whether they still do, but they used to offer rides on the African Queen for you serious film buffs.
