The Lowell commuter rail station would be a little closer.
But the marathon is run on Patriots Day, which is a holiday for many businesses, and others take a vacation day (I always did when I lived in Lexington).
There a map on the marathon website that shows the entire route and nearby commuter rail stations (on the Worcester/Framingham line).
