GC/Zion/Bryce/Sedona July temps

I just spoke to a friend who returned in mid-June from these areas & said he actually wore sweatshirt in the morning & evenings. Should I plan on this as well for July? I expected it to be hot, hot, hot!? Hate to use up the space in the suitcase if we don't need them....

Based on my trips at that time, it is hard to imagine a sweatshirt in June in Sedona and the Grand Canyon. However, I have had to buy one in June for Flagstaff before (higher altitude- it was COLD and windy at night). I just can't beleive you'll need anything like that in July. Don't know about Utah- Bryce is high elevation but I haven't been there.

I'd recommend taking one sweatshirt or fleece jacket. My guess is that you might need it at the GC, and will almost certainly need it at Bryce.

Our trip to this area is coming up on July 12 (can`t wait) and I just went in last night to www.weather.com (the website of the weather channel) and looked up the 10 day forecast for all the parks (low and hi temps)we will be visiting. You might want to check here! I knew it would be hot in places in July but I was surprised to see it already so hot in June - oh no!!! Have fun!

I needed to buy a sweatshirt at GC after getting drenched in a thunderstorm. You don't tend to think of rain in AZ in July, but that's monsoon season there. You can get brief, but heavy, downpours that cool you off quickly!
