Galena

My husband and I are heading to Galena for our anniversary. We've already got a room at a B&B for a couple nights but we're looking for recommendations on "must see" places as well as nice restaurants in the area. Thanks for your help everyone!

I imagine you mean Galena, Il. Been there often. A very historic neat area and town.

Galena Trolley Tour takes you all over the town and area and gives you a good report on the history of Galena.

If you are into Antique's you are in heaven, as just about every other shop is a antique shop.

For restaurants my favorites are The Generals Restaurant and Boone's Place.

You can also take river cruises.

The bluffs just across the river in Iowa are lovely to drive or walk through.

Half the fun is getting there (or so they say)!

I always take Stagecoach Trail into Galena.

You might want to check out the Galena or Jo Daviess County websites because I know that there is a company that gives actual stagecoach (with draft horses) rides as well.

Have fun!

Have a beautiful weekend. We've gone there twice and loved it both times.
Happy Anniversary!

There used to be a place called Fried Green Tomato's.think that was it. Off the beaten path and was said to be haunted. Ask around...its been years.
Fun town.
