Fun things to do in Houston
Looking for some fun things to do in Houston.
We are going Feb 16 - 18. I am going with a group of women (ages 23-28). Looking for something to do especially at night. We are staying in the Galleria area, but are open to other areas. Although I would be interested in art galleries and theatre, no one else is so scratch that.
Any "fun" restaurants in the area? We were thinking of going to a Mardi Gras parade in Galveston (during the day). Do they have these during the day too?
Any happening bars in the Galleria area. I'm more into the sports bar than the get up and dance clubs, but if you know of either let me know.
Thanks,
Britt

Going to Galveston & being on the Strand is fun regardless. On the way, stop at NASA for a space tour, then drive on down NASA Road 1 to Kemah for a walk on the boardwalk. There is a restaurant called Pier 8 just before you cross the bridge from Seabrook to Kemah--great seafood, all you can eat.

I don't know if you will get this in time for your trip but here goes: in the Galleria area on Richmond Road is a place called City Streets which is a congomeration of dance bars (county, rock, etc) that you may enjoy. There are a lot of restaurants/bars on Richmond in the Galleria area and on inside the loop 610 on Richmond and Westheimer. Just drive around. Also on Post Oak Lane there is a new area of restaurants just north of the Galleria. Around Rice University there is the Museum District and The Village Shopping area with a lot of restaurants. Go to Sidewalk.com for Houston restaurants: Pappasitos for Mexican food etc, etc. Going to Galveston is SO much fun! There is an Italian restaurant on the corner of the main downtown street (The Strand) that is SO good. Definitely take a break at Kemah on the Boardwalk but there is so much to do in Galveston. E-mail me at [email protected] if you need more info.

You have to check out the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. It will be going on during this time. The Galleria area is the place to stay. Make sure you make the trip to Galveston but most of the parades will be at night.
A fun restaurant is a place called "Fajita Flats" on Fondren not far from your Hotel. The best Sports Bar in town is SRO on Westheimer and Gessner. If you are going out to dance go downtown.

I used to live in Houston and one of my favorite places is Radio Music Theater. 3 family memembers do great creative skits and it so fun. There is a great mexican resturant close by called Ninfa's. Also on Kirby. Not far from the galleria. Escantle is a also a good mexican place. It's on Voss/Woodway.
Please e-mail if you'd like more info. I'll be glad to help you out. Lived in Houston for 20 years. Have a great time!
