Ft. Lauderdale: Rd Bahia Mar vs. Sheraton Yankee Clipper

For Easter weekend, our first visit to this area, we were going to go to Miami Beach but from all the reading on the forum now thinking Ft. Lauderdale. Can get Rd Bahia Beach for $139.00 and Sheraton Yankee Clipper for $119.00. We like to be walking distance to restaurants and have a 9 year old daughter who likes swimming pools. What do you recommend? Also, any recommendations for a memorable Easter brunch? thanks

Both hotels are nice and have great locations. The Yankee Clipper is on the Ocean side and the Bahia Mar is on the Bayside but the ocean is right across the street. The two hotels are very close, and the beach in this area is the best. I honestly have never been in the DelMar but have heard that it is very nice. I have stayed in the Yankee Clipper and found it clean and cozy. The down stairs bar of the Yankee Clipper has a large Window that looks into the pool. I think that you can go wrong with either one. It was diffenitely a good idea to go w/ Ft. Laud. instead of Miami. If you wish you can make a day trip to Miami as it is only a 30min drive from Ft. Laud. Enjoy your stay.

Go with Yankee Clipper. Can't beat the location or the price. Check out Evangeline's for Easter Brunch. Yum!

I will be staying at the Yankee Clipper on May 11 and 12. I'd love to hear more dtails! What is within walking distance? Is the pool and beach nice? Do you recommend any restaurants or nightclubs? Any info would be appreciated!

judi,
You must ``do'' Beach Place. Lots of great shops and a great little kiosk that sells nothing but Kama Sutra products. Lots of good restaurants but make sure you check out Mark's Beach Place and Evangeline's. There are also a few nightclubs within Beach Place. When I lived there Evangeline's was my favorite place to eat on the beach but there are several other good restaurants too. Make sure you hit Las Olas Boulevard if you have time. Great atmosphere, restaurants, clubs. Try to get to O'Hara's Jazz Pub on Las Olas if you can.
