Stop at the Tiki Bar in Isla Morada. It's at the midway point.
You won't regret it.

For great lodging in Key West, try some of the bed and breakfast places to get the feel of the keys. Go to keywest.com & look at all of them & then come back to the board & ask again or do a back search on this board under Key West lodging. Sounthern Most Hotel is also good if you are looking for moderate lodging & close enough to the beach & Duval St.

Lotta sharks at that Holiday Isle Tiki Bar in Islamorada, though! You won't soon forget it! Fins left, fins right, fins fore and aft....

Kat - I think you and the girls should move a little more south for your one night. Go to South Beach and be right in the heart of the "beautiful people". There are all different types of properties from the deco hotels to the safe chains and it's a much better start to your trip than the aging strip at Ft Lauderdale. You need to decide your budget first, then pick the hotel... the party will always be going.

In Key West, consider a small hotel property like the Chelsea House or the Marquesa (again budget matters). Whatever you choose, make sure it is located in OLD TOWN. Any property not in old town creates extra driving, parking, and hassles. You are there to party... spend a few extra bucks on the room, it's worth it! Have Fun

There is the Largo Mar & the Marriott not to far from Las Olas Blvd. Getting a one super deluxe bedroom at the Largo Mar, you can walk out to the beach from your backdoor. They have there own private beach & what a beautiful place it is. It will cost you but worth the $$$$. You need to make reservations early. Go visit the Voodoo Lounge at 111 S.W. 2nd St. (Moffat St.) upscale nightclub for some great partying (where most of the action is) & have some dinner at Marks on Las Olas. Oh la la, a French place with heavy emphasis on candlelight & lovely decor - (954) 565-9065, Eduardo de San Angel, also great decor, candlelight & exceptional gourmet Mexican food . Or you can go to Shirttail Charlie's, Burt & Jacks (Reynolds doesn't own it anymore), California Cafe, Jackson Steakhouse or Cafe Sevilla, small, quaint Spanish place with terrific food.

In Ft. Lauderdale there's a new hotel called the Renaissance. It's beautiful but somewhat out of the way. Be sure to eat at "Opera" in Key West. It's on Duval St., kinda south and down a short walkway (there's a sign on the sidewalk) phenomenal food and service.

In Key West, I highly recommend you stay at Ocean Key Resort--it has a great pool and view of the ocean. While an earlier poster's suggestion of the Marquesa Inn is a good one, it is on town, and I think you girls would better enjoy the view offered by Ocean Key. My husband and I were there in December.

Ocean Key Resort is nice but I would hardly think it would be a place for 4 girls to hangout and party. It is more of a couples hotel if anything. Don't eat at Opera. I couldn't find one good comment about it so we ate at Antonias which is next store to it. The Hyatt gets a lot of good reviews and so do many of the B&B's.
