This is the BEST trip report; had me in stitches! As the mother of a former 13 yr. old, I can totally appreciate your experience. Loved the parts about the horseback riding and breast enhancement - too funny!

Thank you Cattail and spirobulldog! I've been away from the Forum for a little while and sadly not doing enough traveling. We're hoping for one more spring break trip before our son goes off to college and I'll post a report. I did one other about Italy if you care to read it. Thanks again....

I did read that one and enjoyed it as well. By the way, we did make it to Zion last Fall and my daughter and I made it all the way to Angels Landing. My wife stopped at Scouts Lookout. We even saw a California Condor near the top. Turkeys were actually on the outside dining area tables at Zion Lodge when we were there.
Since your son likes to rock climb, if you ever get the chance check out www.deserthighlights.com
This is in Moab and is the best thing I have experienced in National Parks(including rafting the Grand Canyon). My daughter and I have done two outing with them and they are fantastic. The last adventure we did with them was in Oregon and involved a 175ft rappel in a waterfall. His company operates in Moab 12 months out of the year, but he goes to Oregon for one month each year and does a limited number of outings there.

What a trip report! We've been debating picking up our youngest from camp in NC and then doing a swing through the south, hitting the places we've lived but the boys don't remember - or Zion/Bryce/maybe north rim of the Grand Canyon. My mind is now made up -

Thank you! You won't regret it, bellhouse. Our son is now 17 and still tells the story of Angel Falls and our inappropriately named horses. And Spiro - I checked out your pictures - they were awesome!

Oh, I opened this while trying to figure out where poster utahtea has been...but now I have read Loveitaly's comments on this 2006 thread and can't stop thinking about her. She is still greatly missed.

What a hilarious report! I am here in Springdale and just was up at Scout's Landing yesterday. I knew in advance that I could never do "the chain."
Zion gets more like Disneyland every year. You almost have to do a Disney plan of attack. Go early, stay late, take a break mid-day. Apparently spring break was a killer. It seems half the visitors are speaking French or German. A few Aussies and many Canadians.
There is a new La Quinta Inn still under construction next to the Pioneer Lodge. It's pretty nice especially if you score it on Priceline's Express Deal.
