From Salmon, Idaho to West Glacier, Mt

We will be driving from Salmon to W. Glacier after a rafting trip and would like to stay somewhere special (maybe a little luxurious) before we spend a week hiking at Glacier. We understand it's about a 4 hour drive. Mostly we are finding very basic motels or nice ranches but ranches would be wasted on us as we're not riders! Any suggestions?

Are you planning on driving all the way to W. Glacier? If so, maybe check out some places in Whitefish or Bigfork, MT.

Averil's Lake Lodge
GardenWall Inn

Missoula might be a nice place for you to stop, too.

Are you rafting the Middlefork? Or the Main Salmon?

We've enjoyed the Bad Rock B&B near Columbia Falls and Grouse Mountain Lodge in Whitefish.
If you want to stop before the Glacier area, consider Missoula. Never stayed there, but there is a wide selection of lodging chocies. Also on Flathead Lake the Best Western Kwataqnuk Resort. Agaim haven't stayed there but looks very nice as you drive by.
