Exactly nanabee, which is why I suggested the editors move it over here from the U. S. board. Unfortunately there's no way to denote that it was moved, so some of the original comments look out of place. Just trying to give some context to the first dozen or so replies.

And with that, enjoy the weather. ;-)

WAWe, we are enjoying the beautiful weather. Actually the best time to visit SD is (IMHO) Jan and Feb.

Which post is that Debit? Is it janisj's post Glorious Day or something like that? I just read part of it here in the lounge (but got the impression it had been moved here from the US forum). She writes well, and I enjoy reading her posts.

>>If you are a native - (who thinks 50 degrees is getting real chilly) - and live near the coast - it probably bothers you more than most.

>>cat: What I really don't remember are the overcast Julys and Augusts. Ugh!>>

Me either. It was really foggy & gloomy well into July and some of early August this year - then came late August, Sept, October and it was scorching hot with the dry Santa Ana winds.

Holy Psyced Out or what? This late-morning at my trusty Starbucks - about 11 AM - when it's been sunny all morning and it was around 75 degrees - a woman walks in with a coat on.

Yes, it may have dipped down to the middle 50's overnight - and the coat was stylish - so perhaps that is why she kept wearing it - but it just looked ridiculous - especially as others in line were ordering iced drinks, and that included a group of young cheerleaders - in shorts - who had just been in getting their iced drinks.

According to this study - San Diego has an yearly average of 23 "heavy fog" days (23 a year!!!!) - which is defined as "as an observation with 1/4 mile visibility or less sometime during
the day. "

http://www.wrcc.dri.edu/htmlfiles/westcomp.fog.html

And I ask - of those 23 days of "fog" - how many burn off?

Methinks most, but for those who feel 50ish is freezing - it appears leave to leave a deep imprint on their mind.

"I am and it does. I really don't remember the May Grays growing up, but it seems here to stay, along with June Gloom, which always has been. What I really don't remember are the overcast Julys and Augusts. Ugh!"

Ditto, ditto

Perhaps Tom that those of us who are cold at 50 degrees are a bit spoiled but it's really not our fault. It's still cold.

We are extremely spoiled when it comes to weather LSky! I heard a lady complaining the other day (as we were walking outside to swim at 7:00 am) how "freezing cold" it was. I had just heard news reports of below 20 degrees in Chicago earlier on the radio.

Ahhh - you lovely local princesses deserve to keep warm however you need to, eh?

Was in very northern Wisconsin - Ashland - on Lake Superior - for my niece's wedding about 4 years ago, 3rd week of December. And yes, some say I am part Polar Bear and I like to drive around with the window open - as it was sunny - even if 10 degrees.

Pulled up to a woman next to a stop sign who also had her window down - and she looked over and smiled/cheerfully commented "Lovely weather isn't it?"- as the day before there had been a wind - which was chilly.

I just smiled back and said - Sure is.

A few cuts/pricks from thorns (wasn't wearing the long gloves) but got 'er dun. A couple months from now - should have some fragrant blooms.

BTW II - for Nana and LSky and any other San Diegans, and baseball fans all.

Went to the Memorial service at Petco Park this morning for long time Padre Announcer - "The Colonel" - Jerry Coleman, where some 4,000 other fans of Jerry showed up. http://www.sandiego6.com/story/gates...-park-20140117

He was one of the nicest men I have ever met - and I had the privilege of chatting with him on several occasions (I used to fly a little bit and played baseball in College) - and he always was cheerful - never at all being anything other than very personable.

And this was from an All-Star second baseman - once the MVP of a World Series - who started playing for the Yanks with the great Joe Dimaggio on the championship Yankee teams of the 40's and 50's - and Jerry is the ONLY Major Leaguer to fly combat in both WWII and Korea.

Fellow Marine - another great San Diegan - Ted - "The Splendid Splinter" Williams - was an instructor pilot for the Marines in WWII - but Teddy Ballgame did fly jets in combat in Korea - as future Astronaut John Glenn's wingman.

Semper Fi to both - and we will miss Jerry much as we also have missed the greatest hitter of our time, the last man to hit .400 - Ted - "the Kid" Williams.

Via Con Dios Colonel.

Some clouds finally arrived. It HAS been unbelievable and exemplary weather in san diego for weeks now. 80s, incredible! Normal temps are mid 60s. I am rejoicing in this weather.

Tomsd, I was acquainted with Jerry. He was a true gentleman. An outstanding human being. I was unable to attend this morning as I had to work. My loss. His passing is the end of an era.
