adding all my sympathy to you, Patrick. I lost my mother to colon cancer when she was only 62, totally different situation than yours, I know, but losing a mom is so painful.
Now you can think of the good memories when she was younger...best wishes.

(Rave: thanks jorr, for keeping this going.
Rant: Wilma. The people in the Yucatan are in my thoughts, hoping it is not too devastating, and people will stay safe.)

Patrick - Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time. I remember reading of your struggles to find adequate care for your mom while also learning of your partner's decline in health. May you be strong.

To all members of this community, I hope you find peace and joy in your lives every day.

Rave: Friday, thank goodness.

Rave: Had a nice time with my parents and a couple of my siblings last weekend.

Rant: We were supposed to go to Yellowstone this weekend with friends, but they had to cancel. It's only a few hours drive away, so we could still go but it won't be as much fun without them.

Have a good weekend!

Rant - It's already afternoon! I didn't sleep well last night, so I took a nap after breakfast and now I've lost half a day!

Dearest Patrick, I have been thinking of you all week and for some reason was worried something was wrong.

I send you my love and prayers. I too agree that your dear Mother seeing your loving face before she left this earth is the greatest gift you could have given her.

Every mother should have a son as loving and loyal and carying as you have been.

May peace be with you and your loved ones. I send you many hugs and prayers that you will know what a fine son you were. Take good care of yourself Patrick.

cd, when I read your first post it was obvious to me that you and Patrick were typing at the same time and your's posted after his. That's happen to me before.

BTW cd, Falwell said it on one of the network morning shows this week. I thought it was disgusting and hateful. Some people say this string of bad weather is caused by global warming. I don't know if this is true or not. But I do know that weather patterns are not caused by people Jerry Falwell doesn't like. That would be called the Falwell Global Hate Weather Effect.

And again Patrick, I am very sorry for your loss and thank you for letting us know as we have been following your posts over the past weeks.

Patrick: I'll add my condolences as well. So sorry for your loss, but am glad you are left with peaceful, good thoughts.

Scarlett: My prayers/sympathies for your aunt as well as the feuding family. I understand that VERY well. My mom's family was never the same following the death of her father. It's a terrible legacy that had been so wonderful!
And now, the same thing has happened with my best friend's family (who I considered my 2nd family).
So sad to see these things happen! Where is forgiveness??

Rave: I did see an example of forgiveness this week. A story of a lady who was severely injured by a teenager who threw a turkey out of a moving car into this lady's windshield, She actually came to his defense in court, asking them to 'go easy on him'!
He now seems forever changed for the better! That couldn't have been easy for her!

Rave: A God who loves, forgives and allows us to make choices, not control us like puppets!

Rant: Us, who don't always make the BEST choices, some of them horrible (even religious people who forget that it's not their job to judge!).

Rant: I miss Bamakelly too! But PM, I remember she did forewarn us she was about to be away for awhile...I can't remember exactly why, something in her life was about to get really busy...I want to say it had something to do with family?? She lives in Huntsville, so not hurricane related, I'm certain.

Rant: WILLLLLLMaaaaaa!

Rave: Our town's airport received a load of evacuee's from FL in advance of the hurricane yesterday....pets! I thought that was different, admirable!

Rave: For Jersey and Statia's wonderful opportunities! Hope to read your TR's soon! Maybe some pics?

Rave: DH is finishing up our backyard 'springs' problem with some French drains. It's amazing how well that is working in our backyard, near the pond. We can enjoy the yard now!

Be safe and have a good week!

One more RAVE: Fodor's is working correctly for me now! I had felt like an outcast before, as none or only 1 current thread would appear in the colum to the left! I have been having to click on other's names in order to find the current threads....so if I missed responding to anyone, my apologies!

To all of you grappling with loss, my good thoughts.

R5:Frank sends his love to Sebastian.

Rave: The wonderful people of New York City! We had such a good time and found folks there immensely friendly and helpful. What a great city it is, indeed!

Rant: being back at work in the wake of such a wonderful vacation. I am, however, rejuvenated and thankful I can take such vacations.

Rave: my favorite 5 year old turns 6
this weekend and we get to spend her bday with her. She might be the only kid I'd enter a "jumphouse" for

Statia: enjoy your return to fabulous Venice.

Have a good and safe weekend everyone.

Have a good weekend everyone.

uh-oh. I didn't mean to dominate today's rants and raves, but I appreciate so many good feelings from so many posters. This really is like a family -- and a very nice one at that.

Dearest Patrick,
I was so sorry to read about your mother's death. I know the last months have been difficult but like Meesthare said, it sounds as if your mom was ready.

I hope you and Lee and the rest of your family find peace and smiles from the many good memories you all have.

Debbie

I wish you, L

Patrick - I, too, send my best wishes for you and yours. Like your Mom, mine suffered for quite a long time before her death and I hope you feel the same sense of relief along with your sorrow and grief.

Belle, I haven't experienced that but have you had that annoying survey banner pass over your screen while you are posting to a thread? I keep clicking in off but it doesn't give up. I don't want to take the survey!

No rants or raves today.

Have a great weekend everyone. To those in Florida, stay safe from Wilma.

Another Rave;
When we had to put Miss Kitty down earlier in the year, we agreed there would be no more cats. She was to be last, the ninth during a forty five year span. Another one at our age would probably outlive us.

So much for that idea. We just came back from the county pound with Furball, a shy, pretty, long hair calico, and bareley more than a kitten. Someone had found her and turned her in. While the other cats came to the front of their cages looking for attention, she stayed curled up in her litter box, petrified. We couldn't leave her there.

ronkala, my cat's name is Miss Kitty, too. Congrats on your new addition.

Scarlett, I'm sorry to hear about your aunt.
