Rave: Got a MP3 player as a belated gift from my brother yesterday. Finally my hour & 20 commute to work didn't feel so long!!

Rave: Getting away to NH this weekend to meet BF's parents. (thanks to all for the quick driving tips!)

Rant: Fighting with my cat last night to put her in the carrier. If I didn't have thick gloves on, she would have torn up my hands as she was scratching & biting the entire time. My BF told me I shold have tucker her paws under so she couldn't move.

Rant: Finally get the cat in the carrier & to my parent's house where she relaxes until she sees my parents cat and proceeds to hiss & growl at her! My father jokingly threatened to tie the cat on the porch or give her to a chinese restuarant if she hurts their cat....

Rave: Finally felt like summer here in NYC this week, even if I was miserable without A/C

Rave: Been on about 15 interviews and may be a shoe in for a few. But one just called for my drivers license # which means one thing - credit check! I hate that crap! I know I have mediocre credit, I could have just told them this on the phone!

missjanna: Good luck w/BF's parents. It's obvious from your posts that you like this fella. And glad to hear the job search is going well.

Now where is Ani? I hope she is out walking the baby in the stroller after a good night's sleep.

Rant: I am drowning at work.

Rant: About to pay off new furniture, so no big trips for a while.

Rave: Was in NYC for a meeting this week, and got to see the Modigliani exhibit at the Jewish Museum. Waited in line for 1/2 hour to clear security, and lots of crowds, but it was well worth it - a well-done, succinct summation of his work, from youthful sketches to caryatids (which I had never known about) to sculpture to later portraits to his marvelous nudes. If you go and haul along any teens, tell them there's a drawing there from Johnny Depp's collection...

Rave: Discovered a great restaurant in Chinatown - Shanghai Cuisine, corner of Mulberry and... I forgot. Great pork buns.

thanks, emd. Yeah, it's been 5 months and things are going really well, he's met my enntire family, and they all like him, so now it's time for me to meet his.

And the job search is going well, just tricky to go on interviews during my lunch break and after hours...I have one today at 12:30 about 8 blocks from my office, so I'm outta here in a few. Figure it's better off to have one lined up in case....besides, I realized I'm being grossly underpaid...(by about $10,000!!)

Rave: Just returned from 8 fabulous days in NYC! Great Trip!!

Rant: vacation is over for now.

Rave: It's always great to come home and sleep in my own bed!

Rant: On my last flight yesterday, sat next to some college students returning from a mission trip. One guy saw I was reading "The Da Vinci Code" and decided my husband and I must not be Christians b/c of this! So, he began "witnessing" to us for the whole flight! He thinks this fiction book is real and is some type of "cult." (of course, he's never read it himself--just heard it was "bad) When he discovered we were Methodists (and not Baptist, like him)--on my! Then, I guess he figured we were really doomed. To top it all off, a Mormom lady got herself involved in the conversation. Can you imagine being attacked my a Mormon and Baptist?? My poor husband sat right next to them, so he had to deal with most of the coversation, which he somewhat enjoyed b/c he's an English teacher who has read lots of books on theology, literature, etc. so he had much to contribute! I tried to keep reading my book (I'm sure that upset them greatly) and the flight finally ended!

Rave: Pistons took the Lakers behind the woodshed last night!! Woo Hoo!!
Rant: Up until 2am because of the late start.
Rave: Better staying up for a win, than for a heartbreaking loss like on Tues.
Rant: I've tried to bite my tongue about this, but I'm sick of people whining about non-travel related posts. I mean, I understand their point, but why is it such a big deal that people have met here, become friends, and discuss things other than travel!! For cripes sake, most of the time you can tell by the title of the post that it's not travel related, so just avoid it!! IMHO there are more important things to worry about in this world than silly posts on a website. Sorry. Been building for awhile there!

Rave: Going river rafting in Idaho springs, CO on Saturday, and horse back riding in Breckenridge Sunday to celebrate our 8 year anniversary.

Rant: Husband has never been near a horse much less on one in his entire life. He's going to be VERY sore!

Rant: Booked for Baltic cruise on NCL in August and understand they're having engine problems resulting in currently ommitting Estonia Port. Nobody is able to get any answers from NCL...

Rave: Still very much looking forward to it no matter if we miss a port.

Rave: Mz. Scarlett is feeling better.

Rave: the Modigliani show. Glad you enjoyed it AHaugeto. Aren't those nudes lovely?

Rant: Allergies are driving me nuts.

travelinwifey, you would be doing a huge good deed if you could capture that stray and get her fixed before releasing her again. Maybe a local vet would volunteer or there is some other low cost option. Finding homes for 6 kittens -- good luck!

Scarlett and emd, you may already know this but if not I recently learned from one of the organic farmers at the Ferry Market in San Fran that tobacco is a natural insecticide--I was told you can sprinkle it around the plants and/or brew it, like tea, and use as a spray. It's working on basil that was being devoured--I don't know if it will work with roses or hibiscus, though but it's worth a try

Rant: allergens
Rave: medication

Faina, do you suppose a whiner has whined to Fodor's? I believe my post on the National Cathedral service disappeared around the same time.......
