Rave: One week until my Cape Cod vacation! I absolutely cannot wait to get there.

Rant: My son has a soccer tournament all weekend. The entire family is soccered out...even my son.

Rave: Next Thursday is the last summer soccer game!

Rant: When we return from Cape Cod, soccer camp starts, followed by two weeks of JV soccer tryouts for school.

Rave: I really do love watching my son play, despite my complaining !

Rant: Summer is going by so very quickly. I don't want to see school supplies in the store already!!!

Rave: My neighbor told me that as she was lifting heavy bags of mulch and spreading it around her bushes (swearing and sweating the whole time)my son went over there and offered his assistance. I'm so proud of him!

BIGGEST RAVE: I have my son fully trained in the art of washing clothes. He can master the washing machine and dryer. I have handed the torch to him and the only laundry I'll be doing from now on is for my few items that I want washed my own way. No more lugging baskets up and down to/from the basement for me!

Have a great weekend everyone!

BuffaloGirl,

We're also soccering this weekend--happily the 3v3 tourney is here in town. I wish our high school soccer seasons were in the fall. Ours are in spring. My son plays on the high school tennis team in the fall just for something to do but his heart's with soccer (he doesn't tell his tennis coach this...).

Can't believe high school soccer's almost over for our family (DS will be a senior)...it makes me sad! It's been a huge part of our life for so many years.

Good luck to your son on tryouts.

STW: Hoping your son's friend is doing better.

Ethel: I'm glad someone finally determined what was wrong with your dad. You must be so relieved.

GoT: To echo JaGirl, "You are envied."

Trish: Happy Birthday!

Rave: Mint, basil, tomatoes, beans, and strawberries from the garden.

Rave: The book, "My Truck Is Stuck" is going back to the library today. Hooray! I am so tired of reading that silly book over and over and over again.

Rant/Rave: Camping and rafting this weekend. It's fun once we get there, but I hate packing, driving, unpacking, repacking, and driving back home again.

I think I'd rather stay home this weekend.

Rant: No A/C and it's hot!

Stay cool this weekend. 8-)

Rave: Headed out for vacation tomorrow!

Rave: House remodeling is going well - slightly over budget but relatively stress free.

Rave: I'm turning 45 next week and my life is all that I could want it to be. Great husband, great kids, excellent job, great friends, good health. I'm keeping the promises that I made to myself. Sure I could stand to lose a few pounds, spend more time exercising and a few more dollars in the bank wouldn't hurt but life is working out pretty darn well so far and I am thankful to God for all his blessings.

Happy b-day, Trish and Bennnie!

Congratulations, BuffaloGirl! My sons solved this problem esier: they went to colleges "within the laundry distance" coming home with a full duffle every weekend

Rave: I'm here, on Fodor's after a short turmoil

Ethel: hope your dad will feel better soon!

Rave: my older son flew to Belize yesterday

Rave: spent a long weekend with the younger son on a RT from SF to SLO

Rave/rant: a rally in support of Israel will be on Sunday in Justin Herman plaza, but there will be lots of hysterical opposition

Rave: in addition to going to Chicago in September, I may start planning a European river cruise in spring... tulip fields in Benelux, here I may come

Rave: no A/C needed in San Francisco, my electric bill is shamefully low compare to your

Tess, my son will only be a sophomore this year so we have a few more years to watch him play. School soccer is in the fall. Then he plays indoor soccer over the winter and then spring and summer soccer with a local town team.

I'll definitely miss it when he's done!

STW, so sorry to read about your son's best friend--I hope he is going to be okay.

ethel, I'm glad to read your dad is on the mend.

P_M, tell me you're going to learn to hula while you yodel!

Happy Birthday, Trish!

IOC, I loved Malan's dress--I was so sad to see him voted "out"! He looks a bit like Benicio Del Toro to me.

Bennie, enjoy a great vacation!

Rave: rescheduled our trip to Italy for December...finger, eyes, and toes crossed we go this time.

Rave: leaving for skate camp in two weeks--haven't been anywhere since February and I am itching to go!

Rave: bought a laptop this week that weighs just 5 lbs with battery. That it weighs about 15 pounds lighter than DH's laptop is a huge rave!

Rant: Traveling for work!

Rave: It's Friday!

Rant: The situation in the Middle East. It seems pretty hopeless.

Rant - We have expereinced the worst storm in our citys history.... so the utilities co's are telling us. A good portion of our city has no electric and we have had a horrible heat wave.
No hotels available for for housr away.

Right now we are getting hit again, we are supposed to have 85 mph winds shortly......ughhh.

Rave - So far no deaths .

My husband picked up a client at the eirport last night from Moscow and the heat overwhelmed him, they got to the hotel and the hotel gave his reservation away!!!! My husband had everyone at his co. calling for availability.... finally got a flea bag hotel in yucky part of town due to a last minute cancelllation!! I feel sorry for him. What a way to start your first American trip!!

The winds are howling as I type. I think I might go into the basemtn now!!

Thanks to all for the vacation and birthday wishes. Tpatricco - Happy Birhtday to you as well.

Project Runway fans: I thought that Mulan character was going to stick around a lot longer because he was such a freak and would add personality interest to the show. At first he came off as really arrogant and cocky and then suddenly he's all vulnerable and sweet. I hated the dress and his poor pitiful me act. My faves at the moment are the architect mother of five and the hip hop guy she partnered with for this weeks' challenge.

The architect mother of 5 needs to eat and stop wearing plunging necklines that show her inverted clavicle.

I love Project Runway and my husband walked by while I was watching it this week. He said "what is wrong with that skeletal woman."

Happy Birthday Trish and Bennie!!

CAPH, my youngest is off to college next month. The days are very bittersweet - both of us anticipating the separation with equal parts excitement and apprehension. We had an impromptu moviefest last night -- stayed up till 1:00 AM watching "Rent" and crying ...

Rave - DD's friend made it out of Lebanon safely after 2 harrowing weeks and will arrive home tonight.

Rant - The Middle East -

Rave - I had a very promising job interview this week. Round two with this company is next week - wish me luck!!

Rant - The heat (103 yesterday!) and my electric bill -- $300+!!! Global warming is a reality --

Rave - "An Inconvenient Truth." Disturbing but convincing. I wish *this* version of Al Gore had shown up in 2000!

Rant - Malan voted off of "Project Runway." I really liked him. I think that pretensious Brit veneer masked a talented ... and wounded ... soul.

This is running a bit long (for me!) Just re-reading this makes me realize that the "rants" in life -- however difficult -- make the "raves" even sweeter!

Good wishes and prayers to all -- especially those dealing with illness and turmoil --

Have a blessed weekend, everyone!

Mah1980 - LOL! My thoughts exactly about the architect mother. Plus, if she took the time to eat a couple of cheeseburgers she might not take herself so seriously.

Rant: TS Beryl has ruined my hopeful weekend plans of laying in the sun.

Rave: After a truly horrible week that followed another equally horrible week, I am ever so thankful that today is Friday.

Rant: I still am one dress short for all the upcoming weddings.

Rave: I get to go shopping for said dress!

Rant: All 3 of my sisters were away on vacation this week, and I'm stuck here at work.

Rave: After a month or two of debating where our next getaway will be (neither one of us would cave from our top choice and we couldn't agree on anything), we threw away our ideas, opted for a new one, bit the bullet and booked a long weekend in Edinburgh for the end of August. Yehaa!

Happy Friday everyone!

It's been so long since I've been around here and there are so many new people - I'm trying to keep up! I'd actually forgotten about FFR&R. How is that possible?

Rave: I'm getting married two months from Sunday.

Rave: Planning a night in New Orleans for Bachelorette #1. Haven't been downtown since before the storm and I MISS it!

Rave: Also planning Bachelorette #2 to San Fran for Labor Day weekend. Nine girls and no one has ever been. CANNOT WAIT!

Rave: Best of all, I'm here today planning our honeymoon to Thailand!

Rant: Just general wedding planning: invitations, ties for groomsmen, meetings with the priest, shoes, pictures, etc, etc, etc.

That's all! Just wanted to pop in...

Rave: No central heat/no AC.

Rave: SO bought a small lot in the historic Col. Centro and her architect is preparing 1st draft plans.

Rant: Pueblo is full of turistas.

Rave/Rant: Got my INSEN card this week: huge potential savings on many purchases throughout Mexico/I'm now a certified, card-carrying "Senectud/Gomer".

Rant: Stem Cell politics.

Rave: Finalized plans and made all res for Argentina and Chile in "spring".

Feliz fin de semana.

Greetings lovely FFR&R'ers ~

STW ~ Hope for your son's friend is on the way.
p.s. Thank you for all your 'on the road" hellos, it brightened our days!

P_M ~ I am excited for your Hawaii trip. It is a splendid place. And from the moment you arrive, you are in this peaceful mode. You know why no one moves fast in Hawaii? Cause no one has to!

Alisa ~ Excited for your journey too, Aloha!

tpatricco ~ I hope you have a lovely spa birthday week!

IOC, GoT and HermesGT and my other Project Runway fellow junkies ~ I agree that the Malan vote off is a definite rant because I liked him. I truly need Angela to be far, far away, LOL, very abrasive, I literally thought Vincent was going to snap. And what is with her bugging everyone while they sketched??? I don’t think Angela is long for this world, I wish she would have gone instead of Malan. I love Kayne and Robert, they are good. The Laura/Michael team was a good one too, although I do agree with you mah1980 and was laughing at your DH's description, I am in constant fear a lil something is going to become "untaped" under her plunging neckline. The Uli/Bonnie dress was very sassy, don’t you agree?
Sashay!

GoT ~ Any Jimmy Choo's in the DINK box that don't fit you?

AnnMarie ~ I have to tell you that an old post of yours made me smile this week when you typed "Bermudiful" Very cute indeed. Do you remember?

Rave ~ I am going to agree with P_M's Rave, Fodorites that make me laugh.

No rants.
