Freaky Friday Rants and Raves 3-04

Rant: Spam and phishing. My bank account and SSN have been attempted to be stolen as many as forty times in one day. Be careful.

Rave: Home Depot is getting brand new aprons.

Rant: 1500 deaths and no exit plan. Viva the Troops.

Not Friday here on the westcoast yet but:

Rant: Weird trolls that just keep popping up with different names.

Rant: Some of us who have had our Fodors accounts played around with. Nice try trolls!

Rave: Spring weather is gradually appearing.

Rave: Beautiful friends, long time and new.

Rave: My trip to Atlanta in April

Rave: Friends from Italy that telephone me and e-mail me constantly, which makes me feel like we are in at least the same area, versus thousands of miles away.

Rave: All our wonderful people at Travis AFB. They are my heros.

Rant: The problem jor is facing. Idenity theft is now becoming a huge problem.

Rave: The music teacher/band director at my grandson's middle school plus the HS band director that, on his own time, gets involved also. God bless our teachers.

Wishing everyone a TGIF and a beautiful weekend!

Rave: having fun planning college tour with daughter - Chicago/Boston/NYC- plus I tacked on an extra TWELVE days in Portland! Whooo Hooo! Almost three weeks of new restaurants and good hotels! I'm in heaven!!

Rant: Booked everywhere but NYC. Too many decisions. Where to stay, where to stay???

RANT: NYU lost daughter's application, and she can't find the paper with her confirmation that it was received. NYU says tough luck, sorry.

Rave: Aathough disappointing, at least NYU is not her first choice. And now we'll have some extra time to play in NYC.

Rave: Am leaving for Orlando/Palm Coast with hubby tomorrow night.

Rant: Jor, no matter what the number is people just ignore it.

Rave: Dad has been here for a week

Rant: Dad's friend is driving me nuts. He's a nice guy but one that brags constantly, very annoying.

Rant: My friend wants to come visit and stay for one week. One week is too long but I don't want to hurt her feelings.

Rant: Disneyworld is becoming like a lot of other greedy corporations. Theme park tickets will now expire if they aren't used within 14 days. That was not the case for decades. If you want a non expring ticket you will now have to pay an extra $100 per person. Get real. Our favorite hotel now costs $100 more per night than it cost last year. I don't know how the average American family will be able to afford it for thier children.

Sorry for the crochedy rants..have a great weekend travelers!

Rave: I found out I'm going to Arizona AND Vegas in April!!

Rave: The flourescent orange sunsets over Magic Island this past week.

Rant: Time to lose weight. No more malasadas!

Rave- Finally got myself back to the gym. So far 3 days of working out plus one day of serious shoveling.

Rant- Every CELL in my body hurts.

Rave- All of the people who supported the schools and teachers at the school committe meeting this past week.

Rant- Looks like the committee won't give the towns the opportuinity to vote on an override that could save the teacher and programs from the chopping block.

Rave- Planning July Hawaii trip justifies the amount of time I spend on this board.

Lovely morning here in Central NJ.

Rant: Cold weather and snow. Enough already!

Rant/Rave: DS moved out to his first apartment yesterday. And my back hurts from helping. I didn't realize how large his bedroom is.

Rant: My end of winter cold.

Rave: DD was accepted to Old Dominion this week. Thats her third acceptence to college.

Rave: DH is coming back home tonight from business trip to Vegas. (He told me some person in the casino at MGM won 2.5 million dollars at craps on Monday. How do you do that?) He promised me we'd go away someplace warm for a long weekend later this month.

Rant: Kids taken fron their bedrooms in the middle of the night.

Rave: Almost through another winter.

Have a safe and healthy weekend.

Rave: Ready to leave for Miami to see a show tonight at Coconut Grove Playhouse (the Constant Wife). Then tomorrow is our FODORITE gathering at Pompano. Eating today at Ortanique in Coral Gables and tonight at Le Bouchon in the Grove -- thanks to Fodorite recommendations. A nice little gourmet mini vacation.

Rant: It's 54 in Naples right now! Really cold for us. Normally we'd love having the top down on the little Z-3 zipping through the Everglades to get to Miami, but that AIN'T gonna happen today!!!

Rave: A great meal last night at an old NYC favorite, Tout Va Bien on W. 51st. Cocktails, appetizers, two entrees, 1/2 bottle of Cotes D'Rhone, and after dinner drinks for $115 (including tip.) For NYC, that's a great deal for really good food.

Rant: Vegas trip to celebrate our anniversary cancelled for work reasons.

Rant: Asked to join eight colleagues on a West Coast swing to meet 30 clients over a 2 1/2 day period at the end of this month.

Rave: West Coast trip ends on Friday of the weekend I was going to head to Vegas. Means my trip is back on, only now I'm not paying the airfare.

rave: a week from today my son and I will be packing for Japan, and trying to sleep that night before our early departure on Sat. morning. A trip that took 18 months to plan, all on FF points and Starwood points.

rave: Had the #1 solo hike of my life in Sedona last weekend. Mule deer, a wild boar, chanting drumming Native Americans, and Boynton Canyon were involved. I'm still high and energized from the whole trip, but esp. that hike.

rave: the 74 yr old buddy and colleague who I work with so closely every day. How lucky am I to work w/someone who is just so glad to still be alive and working and happy that I want to work w/him. No BS, no work politics, no hidden agendas, just work and fun together.

rant: my patience is being tried, and I am not doing well w/it. 12 yr old daughter in puberty is a big challenge. "Mom, I love you; I hate you; I love you; I hate you" DH and I not doing well either. Hopefully this will pass.

rave: I'm also thankful for spring training. It's time for baseball and preseason games in Tokyo and Osaka.

lcuy, how awful about NYU; I hope Chicago or Boston work out. Good luck to everyone on the college tours and applications- and congratulations to Jersey's daughter.

I hope no one is having snow this weekend. Ours is slowly melting, and I wish the same for you all.

Rant-The results of my brother's medical tests came back and it is not good. Because someone on this board has been harrassing me via email, I am not going to post any more info. The good news is that he is at the Clinic. My heart is breaking at this point.

For all of you obsessed with little things, the only thing that really matters in life IMO is your health and family...

Rant: People who benefit from having a good school system because it increases the value of their homes tremendously but won't pay to keep the system going because their kids are grown. Seriously considering private school for the kids.

Rant: Local politicians who won't exhibit leadership and erect road blocks to prevent change.

Rave: Heading into Boston for the weekend with DH for our semiannual getaway.

Rave: Been going to the gym for 2 months now. Clothes starting to fit better, no real weight loss but overall I feel stronger and healthier.

Eva- maybe we are bumping into each other at the Food Mart and at the gym.
