Rave: Still loving my new vehicle ! It drives like a dream, and I now rule the highways !!

Rave: Road trip this week-end for overnight getaway to beautiful bed and breakfast, Victoria's Historic Inn. The bubbly is chilling already.

Rave: Rain storm overnight took a lot of snow away. Keep it coming, this snow stuff stinks. It's not even pretty anymore, dirty, salty, and it's making my car dirty.

Rave: Six weeks to go until Vegas.

Rantounds like a bit of insecurity that needs to carry over to a vehicle.

Patrick, I am with you on the laughter. One very fortunate thing is that my Mom has remained very very sweet. A bit of agitation sometimes, but still sweet, no drastic personality changes. That is a real blessing, and I hope that will be the case for you and your partner.

Regarding your Mom, if she is in pain and elderly, have you seen this site? They have clothes and sweaters that are easy to get into and out of. I just ordered a "sweater" for my Mom that does not require putting her arms in sleeves (difficult for her to do on her own), instead it is a shawl type sweater w/pockets at the end of the arm drapes. You'll see them on the site, click on women's clothing, then sweaters and cardigans and there are pics. www.buckandbuck.com

Rant: Oh, Patrick, I'm sorry to hear both pieces of news. May your friends and virtual family here be a source of comfort and humor (with a little naughtiness thrown in).

Rave: Everyone's good news today - pounds lost, cars and sons and money found... very cool.

Rave: Had a GREAT time in Vegas this past weekend with DH and another couple (our 1st time traveling with others, non-family) - same schedules, same thoughts about money, same drinking habits (ahem), same desires to see the sights really made for a fun time.

Rave: Drew Carey and the Improv All-Stars, "O", dinner @ the VooDoo Cafe, Bellagio fountains...

Rant: Penn and Teller. Must've been an off night for them.

Rant/Rave: Husbands' Manager, the other two supervisors, and their wives are coming for dinner tonight. Oy.

Have a great weekend, all!

Rave: My wife's valentine gift to us - dinner tonight in the cellar of a winery with the head chef of Fratelli's (Portland, OR restaurant) doing the meal.

Rant: How do I top that?

Rave: Only 7 more weeks until I leave my job for good (bittersweet though, because this has been my second home for over 20 years, and I feel like a mom to some of my much younger colleagues.)

Rave: I'll be coming back occasionally when they need extra help.

Rave: Going to 14 year old granddaughter's two hockey games tomorrow (her team has only had one loss and three ties all season).

Rave: Going to Barnes & Noble Sunday afternoon to research Montreal and Quebec City for April trip. Anyone with absolute "must sees" in either city, would love to hear them.

Rant: None - life is good!

Patrick -
My grandmother passed away 5 years ago from complications due to Alzheimers. My parents cared for her until the day she died. The Alzheimers Association is a wonderful source for information and support, but my parents were too "proud" to use them. Please do not do the same. You and your partner are in my thoughts and prayers.

Rave: Busy weekend coming up - kid birthday parties, library, relaxing.

Rave: Since my husband and I did Atlantic City last weekend for our Valentine's gift to each other, we get to spend the actual day with our kids at...Chuckee Cheese!! I know everyone is jealous! But, the kids have so much fun when we are there, so it is worth it. Too soon they will be surly teenagers who will not want to go with us any where!

Rant: All the laundry! How can a family of 4 wear so many clothes during one week?!

Have a wonderful weekend everybody!

I just read Patrick's posting and want to share my concern for him. You have some real challenges, but your wonderful, positive attitude will bolster you. You are in my prayers.
To KK, thank your son for me.

rant - The FFR&R thread being so laden with personal dramas that average people are not comfortable posting their everyday pro's and con's. Seem too trivial in comparison. Hope that does not keep others from posting.

Rant: a 13 hour day today.

Rave:three days off. A weeekend filled with an annual Valentines dinner party. Naked Twister anyone? Sunday we're off to see "Caroline or Change" and Monday I'm home all day to conjure up the love potion.

Patrick~I am sorry to hear about your partners dx. May your mother's pain management go well. It reminds me of the line "If it ain't one thing, it's everything else". I think that's from Gilda Radner.

tpatricco~welcome to the world of Volvo drivers.I love mine.

Scarlett~Bon Voyage and give my love to the City of Light.

leelane: Perhaps speak only for yourself, or who are the "everyday people" to whom you refer? Read back through the posts. There are alot of everyday people posting everyday stuff in these posts on FFRR. I find your reference to "personal drama" offensive. It's called life, and people are free to share it all here, mundane, upbeat, funny stuff, as well as tough times. Are you uncomfortable w/that last part?
