Rave:
Whatever the weather and regardless of illness and worry, I so appreciate hearing the FFRR each week to keep up with everyone.
Rant:
I miss a lot of people who are not posting here.

Joc, it is sort of good that everybody got sick at once LOL Now they can all be well at the same time too!
Mike-
Congrats on the pup! My daughter has 2 greyhounds, we all love them, sweet and gentle creatures! Pup thinks they are his sisters and that he can run that fast too ((&))
Rave for the people who adopt pets, and keep them!
Don't get a pet if you cannot stay home and take care of them!
You are doing no one a favor by giving up on a dog that has grown out of puppyhood and will just join the thousands of dogs every year that need good homes.

Rave:
The sun is shining, it is dry, it is Portland Oregon!!

Mini-rant:
I miss my kids

to all and Happy Holidays~

BTW- I finished my holiday shopping AND got the Yankee his birthday present! nah nah nah

ethel, congrate on the windows. I once worked in an office which had no windows at all. As if that wasn't bad enough one of my co-workers dicided there were too many lights in the office and came in one weekend to remove one half of the light bulbs. An OSAHA official came in an chewed him out the following week!

I like the new design philosophy where cubicals are near the windows and private office rooms are in the center of the building.

Rant: weather
Rave: dreaming of warmer days in the past and future

Rave: wrote all but 4 of my holiday cards yesterday afternoon, then drove straight to the post office for mailing.

Rave: turning 43 on Sunday 12/18. Still think I'm 27 but the grey hair and lack of sleep are giving me an older look (no wrinkles, though!). Am sure, though, that I'll be rockin' and rollin' till I draw my last breath.

Rave: going to a small holiday party tonight. Remember the recent thread about bringing a hostess gift/food? Was asked to bring a small dish to share, so I know the rules for this event.
Rave: have a great deviled egg recipe I'll be making after work today.

Best rave of all: FFR&R. Hugs to all who enter here!

Rave - same sunshine in Seattle as Scarlett has in Portland...
Rant - it goes away awful early...
Rave - off tomorrow to London and Israel...
Rant - the older I get the more I obsess about packing and travel readiness... lists and lists and... yikes.
Rave - once I'm on the plane I don't worry about it...
Rant - maybe that's because my memory is going too...
Rave - today's my honey's birthday...
Rave - we celebrated it last weekend. 15 gal pals, brunch, limo to the movies, I cooked, arranged, cleaned up. Where's my present?
Rave - all the kind and good hearts that post here every week.

Hag sameach and happy new year!

Rave: Pets, they do so much for the feed they get.

Rant: Places of business etc. with no windows. Not a one in the library which is center of a huge structure- that I work in. Terrible heat/cooling as well.

Rave: Furnace in MI is fixed by combined efforts of 3 others- 2 of which I have never laid eyes on. That is really what rural small, town USA is like. And they replaced a $40 computer control board and don't want to take more than the part cost, "when I see them." REALLY!

Rave: Sensaphone

Rave: My sister isn't going to have to start chemotherapy until after Jan.2- so she won't be sick for the holidays.

Rave: All the wonderful people who are praying for her.

RANT: TOO MUCH SNOW- allright already- I have the full moon white stuff picture in the camera- and I need to get places.

RAVE: All the good people here and hoping that they have good aromas waiffed their way from Christmas or Hannukah baking. And thank you, Susan, for the mondel bread receipe once again. We made them this morning with a side batch of connoli shells.

rave:
Mikemo for taking in the stray. Both will benefit freom it.

Capecodshanty...does your shelter have a foster home program? If so you could take in a dog for a short period of time to give it much needed attention. We do it for cats with kittens, and fussing with the the kittens for a couple of weeks makes them more
adoptable. We returned our second set on Wednesday and will bring in another family after the holidays.

JJ5, I agree about pets. I have a big Mr. Tough Guy german shephard who loves to intimidate people but he is really an overgrown pussy cat who can't get enough attention.

Rant 1: snow, ice, snow, more snow, it will be a long drive home from work this afternoon.

Rant 2: Usual lousy Xmas bonus, too much of which was deducted for taxes (that's what happens when you're a contract worker)

Rave 1: My pups love to play in the snow and are having a ball.

Rave 2: H got a great bonus

Rave 3. Father, 80, is taking up bike riding - can't wait to see this on my next trip to visit him.

Rave 4. I still have my Dad.

Everyone have a great weekend, and for those with lots of snow, take the advice of an former Mayor of buffalo during a blizzard-something to the affect of just hunker down with a 6 pack

Rave: The weekend is almost here.
Rave: I have all the gloomy weather that normally would be in Portland OR and Seattle WA. It is a rave as my dear friends and family in those two beautiful cities deserve some wonderful weather.
Rave: JJ5 sister can enjoy the holidays and feel well.
Rave: Everyone that cares about our little furry friends (and some that are not so little).
Wishing all of you a beautiful weekend as you prepare for whatever holiday you celebrate.

Rant: No snow day today even though it snowed all day yesterday. It stopped by 8, plenty of time to clear the roads.

Rave: DS is headed home from college today. Will be here for three weeks. Yeah!

Rave: Our annual Christmas Party for all our friends is tomorrow night and I'm ready. Food - bought, liquor - bought, decorating -done, waitress - hired. Bring it on!!!!!

Rave: Christmas shopping done!!!! Now just have to wrap.

Rave/Rant: No transit strike today, but wait til next week. While I don't take the subway or buses, the LIRR is bound to be a disaster. They can't handle a normal day, let alone a NYC strike. Fun, Fun

Rave: A wonderful week in Bermuda. Gorgeous hotel...surprise upgrade for just me to a king suite...astonished, overwhelmed and I LOVED IT. I will do a trip report, but there are some little things here which need doing first.
Rave: Mike's new pup. We have five, all rescues.
Rave: DH has volunteered to wrap gifts at our local Barnes and Noble. All proceeds to provide vet care for the Katrina pets rescued. Am I proud? You bet!
Rave: DH went out and volunteered to distribute free Christmas trees to any families which could not afford it.
WOW. Now I am really proud. I am lounging around the beaches of Bermuda and DH is doing Santa's work. I definitely married up!
Rave: Thank you, Tiff, for your special on line friendship and always seeming to remember.
Rave: Good people everywhere. You are still the majority and you are the ones who make life the wonderful adventure it is.
Rave: The holiday spirit. Rock on!

Rave: Freezing rain caused a 2-hour school delay, so no hurry to get the cutie's out of the house this morning.

Rant: Got laid off last Friday but am able to stay on part-time.

Rave: Part-time comes at a good time. More time to get ready for Christmas and will be able to do fun stuff with the kids over their vacation.

Rant: Step-son decided to quit full-time college and is coming home today to live with us full-time and find work. He'd better find a full-time job, or else (he's 21)!

Happy Friday to all!

JJ5--Best wishes to you and the family. I read what's going on last week but wasn't able to post til now.

Rave: Pets! Our 6mo. old kitten is the love of my life. Seeing that silly little boy waiting every time I walk in the house and the cuddles are priceless.

Rave: Have most of my holiday shopping finished

Rant: Am still stressing over my husband's gift.

Rant: My best friend's FIL is seriously ill. He's a wonderful man who's like family...in fact we feel closer to him than some blood relatives...

Rave: I'm so fortunate to have wonderful friends, family, and the best husband anyone could wish for.

Happy Holidays, all!

RAVE: Throwing nursing home Christmas party today, along with my siblings, for the staff that takes care of my sweet mother! What hard work they do, and for so little....

RAVE: Six days to go before my Christmas guests arrive next Friday ... cards are out, tree is decorated, virtually all shopping is done. Now time to bake and clean!

RAVE: Sppunk's anniversary! Many more happy ones to you and yours! Hope you get the job that you want ....

RANT: Am missing friends who haven't posted on FFR&Rs for awhile ...

RAVE: Elizabeth_Reed's birthday on Sunday! Many more happy and healthy to you, lady ...

RAVE: Friends who take the time to write a sweet note in their Christmas cards, to let you know they still care, though you may not have seen them for a long time!

RAVE: My Carolina Tar Heels looking great, though they're "just a bunch of freshman." AND my Carolina Hurricanes are still atop their division ... GO 'CANES!

Hope all my good friends here in Fodorville are having wonderful fun as we head into the home stretch for Christmas! Hugs to all ...
