Four Seasons Maui/View

Just how clear and expansive a view of the ocean does one have if selecting an "Ocean View Prime" room at this resort?

Steve,

Sorry, I can't provide any firsthand experience on the prime rooms, but since no one else has responded yet, here's my input with respect to what you get for regular ocean view and the differnce between the two as I understand it.

Our regular ocean view room had a view of the ocean from the balcony. If you imagine a picture being taken from the lanai, the bottom half would consist of images of the sloped back lawn, a small road and trees. The top half portion of the photo would be of the ocean (we were on the sixth floor, most likely the higher rooms had a better view). Due to the distance to the ocean and height of the foilage and trees, we couldn't see any beach. But the view was fairly unobstructed. It wasn't fully fronting the ocean (perpedicular to), as the hotel seemed to be designed with most of the rooms angled to allow more rooms to have an ocean view.

With respect to the prime rooms, I was advised that you can see an unobstructed view of the ocean from inside the room, for example, from the bed. They are still angled, like regular ocean view, but closer to the water, the front five, I believe.

That's all the help I can provide, sorry I can't give you more info. Hope it helps at least!

Have a great time though. I absolutely loved it. The hotel is a wonderful place to stay regardless of which room you select.

The hotel is U-shaped and the ends of the U are pointed toward the water, the base of the U is the parking lot and tennis areas and mountain view rooms.
The ocean view primes rooms are at the ends of the U. Closest to the water, best view.

You must request an Oceanfront guest room to have an expansive view. Great sunsets!

We are going to the Four Seasons, Maui November 3-10 and have booked a partial ocean view. Is it possible to upgrade when we get there?

If it's sold out, no....if not, yes.
The place sells out with great regularity, though.

We just went on our honeymoon to the FS Maui. We were told by friends to book the cheapest room available because you are never in the room during the day to even enjoy the view. And for the most part, many of the partial ocean view rooms don't have a great view anyway. The advice was right on - we were out at the beach or pool from early morning until sunset. Don't spend you money on the view!!!
