Hi,
My boyfriend and I are visiting Florida (from England) for a couple of weeks at the end of September and are going to be at Fort Myers Beach for 1 night (on the way down to the Everglades)
Can anyone recommend best sights / attractions that we should check out? Also we staying at the Grand View - does anyone know what this is like?

Em- consider taking a ride to Sanibel/Captiva for an afternoon lunch at the Bubble Room or Mucky Duck followed by a beach walk (the beaches are famous for their shells). Top off the day by watching the sunset from the beach before heading back to the hotel. Sanibel/Captiva is only a 15 minute drive from Ft. Meyers beach and also offers shopping as well as plenty of places to stop along the way. Have Fun!

You might look into the Edison/Ford Winter Estates. Quite lovely grounds where Thomas Edison and Henry Ford had winter homes. I could spend the whole day just looking at shells on Captiva Island.

Stayed at Fort Myers Beach last May for 2 weeks and it wasn't long enough. Once you see the lovely beach and the sunset, you won't want to go anywhere else. Also visited Sanibel Island, but honestly there is so much to see. All the accomodation on Fort Myers Beach are lovely. We stayed at Outrigger Beach Hotel. Have a lovely time, it will be wonderful

We also stayed at Fort Myers Beach last May for 2 weeks really nice beach. We stayed at the Gullwing beach resort which opened last feb 00. It was really nice. each condo had a hottub in room with washer and dryer. I would recommend it we stayed in Marco Island this year and liked Fort Myers beach better. good luck
