Fort Lauderdale to Orlando
I'm having trouble getting connections between Western Canada and Fort Lauderdale. How far a drive is it to go from Orlando to Fort Lauderdale? I'm thinking it might be easier to just rent a car.

Go to maps.google.com and find out. I think there's a train that runs from Orlando to FLL. Where are you looking for flights? On kayak.com I don't see any better flights from Vancouver to FLL vs. MCO. Maybe you should fly from Seattle?

its < 3.5 hours to drive. I know of several people who have taken non stops to Orlando and then driven to Ft. L to avoid layovers, etc. the major rental car places are right on the airport property in Orlando and its pretty quick to get your luggage, get your car, and then hop on the highway.

Actual mileage is 200-225 miles.
You can get a one-way rental and Thrifty is one company that does do them. They are just off the airport and have very frequent (blue & white) shuttles back to their place of business.
