It will take a very long time, particularly north of SF. South of SF, the drive is more pleasant and only marginally longer than taking 101 or 280 to 17 or even Gilroy before going to the coast.
To find out estimated time, Google map one location and ask for directions, giving Mendocino and Point Reyes Station as two in-between points. That should give you the coastal route with distances and estimated times.

We have done this several times. It is about 300 miles and takes seven hours behind the wheel if you include the stretch of Highway 1 which goes through Half Moon Bay (which we do). You can save an hour or so of driving by getting off Highway 1 at Bodega Bay.

"Is there much to see on Hwy 1 from Fort Bragg to SF?"
Absolutely!! -- it is an even better/more scenic drive than from SF to Carmel. Are you asking about doing it in one day? I wouldn't -- too far, too slow, and too much to see.
It makes more sense to do the slow/scenic route from Ft Bragg > SF and the fast route SF > Monterey. Even that would be a slog.
But two days makes even more sense.

"We like the drive from San Francisco to Santa Cruz on Highway 1. It hugs the coast, it goes though Half Moon Bay, and it is quite beautiful."
Of course it is. I never said it wasn't scenic/beautiful. Only that for the most part the north coast is even more so.
And neither leg is a fast drive -- so it is best done in two days and see both IMO.
