FOR KNOXVILLE TN natives please

Hi! I guess you might have to be a native of North Knoxville for this, but I'll give it a shot. I'm going to be visiting a friend's grave at BOOKWALTER cemetery and I would like some lodging in the area..either around there or the Mortuary called Rose..
anyone familiar with either please? I'll be going straight from the airport and have never been there before. Thanks in advance.

Peggy, i wish I could help you. I lived in Knoxville for many years. I've tried to figure out where Bookwalter is at and it must be a very old and out of the place cemetery. Maybe you'll have better luck with natives that still live there. Good luck and sorry about your friend.

I'm not a native. However if you go on www.mapit.com or www.mapquest.com and enter Bookwalter Cemetery, you will get a map of the location. It is near the NE intersection of I-75 & I-640.

Well, I'm a native of North Knoxville (I live up the street from Rose's), and I've never heard of that cemetery either. I do see in the phone book a "Bookwalter United Methodist Church" - I'll guess that's where the cemetery is. That's near where Diane suggested.

You will want to stay at the I-75 Merchant's Road exit. There's a number of motels there, including Days Inn, LaQuinta, Hampton, and Red Roof.

You're welcome to email me if you have any other questions.

Thanks everyone! I wrote it back in April, but we are going back this December and having found this original thread and its answers has been a Godsend. Thanks so much!

Peggy
