Fondue in NYC

Looking for a nice place that serves good fondue at reasonable prices. There will be 4 of us & don't want to spend more than $25pp for dinner - unless there are good deals to go early or for lunch. I've heard mixed reviews on Artisanal and Dip Cafe. Any others in midtown area you'd highly recommend? We like nice atmosphere which Dip seems to have but heard the fondue is not worth the $ there.

I really like Artisinal. Has a great smell of cheese wafting through the place, nice atmosphere, and everything I've ever had there, even the non-fondue items, have been very good. Don't know if you can get away with $25pp there, however. Check menupages.com, and it will have current menu with prices so you can check it out.

about a new place called Swish Cafe & Shabu Shabu that serves cheese and chocolate fondues.

Coda at 34 east 34th also has fondue

Happened to come across a list of fondue places and remembered your post. The only midtown one that hasn't been mentioned is Mont Blanc on west 48th. The others, all downtown, are Punch and Judy on Clinton st, Rise on West st. and Dylan Prime on Laight st.

Thanks - we just got back today & had our first meal at La Bonne Soupe - 55th btwn 7th & 8th I think. Loved the place! AND - not expecting it - but they serve both cheese & chocolate fondue! We got the cheese in addition to their soup special of salad, bread, soup, dessert & a glass of wine for $13.95 plus the fondue cost! It was way too much food - but so delicious!
