Flower Show

Went to the Flower Show on Sunday, its opening day...you will enjoy it! I stayed at the Marriott and would not recommend Allies, which basically serves the hotel's room service menu. Why not have a very informal, but fun lunch at the Reading Terminal Market, which adjoins the Flower Show and doesn't even require that you exit the building! There is both counter seating and, perhaps more suitable for your mom, some table seating in a central area in the bck of the market. Your choices are many and you will have fun deciding what to eat! By the way, you can get your hand stamped when you leave the Flower Show for lunch and then later return (especially if plan on buying anything from the many interesting vendors at the Show...save your purchases for after lunch). Also consider having an early or late lunch, as the Reading Terminal Market if quite crowded between 12:15 and 1:15 or so. Enjoy!

Sorry for not mentioning its location. The Flower Show is in Philadelphia. It is the oldest and largest in the United States and many refer to it as "the flower show" without need for any further description. By the way, its an interesting visit for even a casual, non-flower-oriented person.

Thanks for the good suggestions! Sorry I didn't mention location -- Philadelphia at the Convention Center. I believe this is the largest annual flower show in the U.S. Next year I think I'll take some more advice and stay overnight to take advantage of fewer crowds in the evening. There's also a special tea offered on the balcony, but it's booked solid. There's a lot to do in Philly. Already planning a return. Appreciate any other input.

The Down Home Diner in Reading Terminal is great (and close), plus, of course, there are all the other Terminal places. But Chinatown is close by, also, and places like the Imperial Inn (on 10th Street at Race) have great choices and a lot of room to sit and relax. Have a wonderful time!
