The weather in South Florida, where I have lived for over 20 years in Oct/Nov is warm. The breezes pick up a bit and it it milder than it is now. Heat still in the 80's, a bit breezier, and less humidity which is a great help.
I beleive hurricane season runs through Nov 1. Last Oct was a very busy month for us. Each year they predit more storms to come our way, but it is a hit or miss thing. You cannot predict Mother Nature!

Hurricane season runs through Nov 30, but storms that late are unusual. Oct will normally have a couple but they could make landfall anywhere from Mass (rare) to Mexico along the US coastline, or miss everything altogether!
You are in the UK I believe, do the storms get a lot of press there? Really, the chances of one striking where you are, are slim enough that I wouldn't be too concerned and even if one did arrive during your visit, you could be 60 miles from where it made landfall and feel nothing more than an exceptionally rainy windy day. Things are beginning to cool down in October and November, the parks and beaches aren't as crowded, so come on over!

I have lived in Central Florida for 20+ years, and Oct/Nov is one of the better times to come- on average- weather not broiling like the summer, but usually no surprising cold spells either. Tends to be less rainy. Hurricanes chances are less in Oct/Nov than Aug/Sept.Also, Orlando tends to be less busy during those months.
